I know I’m not the only one who rolls their eyes at the supposed horror of the media looking into candidate’s spouses when the media and the right pulled Hillary and Chelsea Clinton through the mud for eight years, day in and day out right up to this very moment.

    I think a lot of the attacks on Fred Thompson are fair, but I do think the attack on his so-called Trophy Wife his completely bogus, even when I see it coming from bloggers that I read a great deal of.

    I don’t know what’s going on in their relationship, and I don’t care. My marriage was difficult and we fucked up, so if they can keep it together, kudos to them.

    I also think that just by linking to it we reward the same lazy so-called journalists and encourage them to run the same crappy, lazy, shallow campaign reporting that they have done for the past 20 years.

    Theresa Heinz is french. Hillary is a lesbian. Pelosi uses botox. And Fred Thompson has a 40 year old trophy wife. Fuck of all that. Let’s discuss the issues.

    The difference of course is that Fred isn’t going around saying the country will get “2 for 1″ like the Clintons did. If Jeri is going to be heading up health care reform in a Thompson Administration, then damn yes she’s fair game. Otherwise…

    I heard Republicans going after Chelsea Clinton, how is that fair?

    By the way, having a ‘trophy wife’ doesn’t jive with the Family Values platform. So this is yet another case of right-wing hypocrisy, which is a fair issue to bring up.

    I’m sure this “Captain Ed” (is he related to “Uncle Eddie*”?), was up in arms when the “Librul” media was bashing and swiftboating Theresa Heinz Kerry.
    The thing about these Repubs is, if you play by their rules, they all whine, stamp their feet and go running to Mommy.

    It’s clear that Fred Thompson would be a security risk if he were in the White House based on his predilection for PYT.
    It isn’t much of a strain to imagine Thompson as a guest of Vladimir Putin in Russia being plied with drink, Cuban cigars and sexy, young Russian spies, while he’s giving away state secrets during intercourse, based on his past experience being a double agent mole for Richard Nixon.
    Heck, same thing for Rudy Giuliani.
