Don’t Trust Them, Domenici Edition

As Matt Yglesias notes, the only way to believe the supposed conversion of Republicans like Sen. Pete Domenici on the Iraq War is if they actually vote to end the Iraq War. Anything else is just election year shucking and jiving that too many liberals and the media fall for.

    Of course, all almost all conservatives and liberals want the war to end. The disagreement is about HOW to end it. Leftist ideologues want the US to surrender to terrorists.

    In the meantime, I’ll sit here and talk about how right-wing ideologues are so fucking bloodthirsty that their idea on how to win the war is to slaughter every last man, woman, and child in Iraq. Because that’s clearly the arena of ridiculousness you want the debate to take place in.

    Specifying a date when we withdraw militarily regardless of field conditions constitutes surrender. thre are plenty of terrorists in Iraq (progressives have complained that we are creating many more ts in Iraq).

    No, specifying a date for withdrawal from Iraq constitutes withdrawing from Iraq. There will still be other means and other venues by which the US can continue to fight al-Qaida.

    You’re the one ready to give up if this one particular battlefield is lost. No wonder you think it constitutes “surrender.”

    And not having a plan for victory, or even a way of defining it constitutes losing. Republicans are losing the war in Iraq and the war on terror because they don’t have a plan.
