Don’t Trust Them, Domenici Edition

As Matt Yglesias notes, the only way to believe the supposed conversion of Republicans like Sen. Pete Domenici on the Iraq War is if they actually vote to end the Iraq War. Anything else is just election year shucking and jiving that too many liberals and the media fall for.

  1. I don’t think there are that many liberals who fail for this crap.

People in the media, that’s another story.

  2. Dugger says:

Of course, all almost all conservatives and liberals want the war to end. The disagreement is about HOW to end it. Leftist ideologues want the US to surrender to terrorists.

  3. SpiderJ says:

JEE-SUS CHRIST. Will you STOP with it already?

You find me one…ONE…so-called “leftist ideologue” who advocates “surrendering” to terrorists. You find me ONE leftist ideologue who hates his life and those of their family and friends so much that he or she is perfectly content to watch them die.

In the meantime, I’ll sit here and talk about how right-wing ideologues are so fucking bloodthirsty that their idea on how to win the war is to slaughter every last man, woman, and child in Iraq. Because that’s clearly the arena of ridiculousness you want the debate to take place in.

  4. Dugger says:

“I want a deadline not only for commencing the withdrawal of our forces but also completing it rather than a target date,” said Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.

Specifying a date when we withdraw militarily regardless of field conditions constitutes surrender. thre are plenty of terrorists in Iraq (progressives have complained that we are creating many more ts in Iraq).

  5. SpiderJ says:

No, specifying a date for withdrawal from Iraq constitutes withdrawing from Iraq. There will still be other means and other venues by which the US can continue to fight al-Qaida.

You’re the one ready to give up if this one particular battlefield is lost. No wonder you think it constitutes “surrender.”

  6. “Leftist ideologues want the US to surrender to terrorists.”

People who say something this stupid shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

In fact, they should be locked up in a mental hospital for their own safety.

  7. Shorter Dugger says:

Goddamnit, I hate this stupid fucking country.

  8. “Specifying a date when we withdraw militarily regardless of field conditions constitutes surrender.”

And not having a plan for victory, or even a way of defining it constitutes losing. Republicans are losing the war in Iraq and the war on terror because they don’t have a plan.
