The Mitt Romney campaign is promoting this video of a one-day fundraiser they recently held, trying to communicate energy and enthusiasm for the candidate. As the NYT reported yesterday they generated $1.5 million, a far cry from the $6.5 million they brought in a few months ago at a similar event. But what I noticed is that in order to communicate the “bigness” of the occasion they rented out Boston Garden and Fenway Park. But its empty. If you’re going to hold a big free event at a sports venue, I don’t think you communicate momentum by having an empty stadium.

By way of rubbing it in, this is the biggest city in Romney’s *home* state.
How…and why did his camp ever let pictures of that fiasco get out?
W! T! F?!
Oh hell, if he’s stupid enough to strap a dog to his car roof…:)
They needed all that space to land my 747 on his shoulders.
Multiple choice Mitt is yesterday’s darling for the Wingnut roots, now their BFF is Fred Thompson, the “actor” and former lobbyist.
“Multiple choice Mitt is yesterday’s darling for the Wingnut roots, now their BFF is Fred Thompson, the “actor” and former lobbyist.”
Hopefully tomorrow they won’t pick someone with a chance.
Where’s Biff, Tagg, Jinx, Chas and Trey? The Romney boys?
Mitt should have held this event in Independence, Missouri. He would have had one more member in the crowd.
Interesting photos, nice distortions. There were 1000 people there. I love that you only show pictures that crop out the floor where the event was situated. PRetty dishonesdt.
1,000 people in either of those venues isn’t much of anything.
Well done on missing a perfectly simple point, Jason. 1000 people’s not at all bad, but if you’re going to stage it in a Stadium it’s going to look like very little by comparison, and all the empty seats are going to overshadow everything else about the event. Ergo, stupid place to hold the fundraiser.
Mitt could have rented a Fire House for only 1,000 people.
A thousand people could have stood on Mitt’s shoulders.
Apparently OW got hold of the images before all the faces were Photoshopped in. There are other instances where crowds looked bigger at GOP events after some digital enhancement.
Oliver,
I’m not the one posting misleading photos.
Fact was the floor of the center was filled. IT was a call day. People were at tables. There goal was less then 1000 and they broke it.
Unfortunately you have to live with the fact that this is the face of the man who makes Hillary look quaint and Obama a niche voter.
“There goal was less then 1000 and they broke it.”
They rented Boston Garden and Fenway Park with a goal of less than 1000? Come now, you can’t really believe that.
