The Stupidity Of Glenn Reynolds

Instapundit.com

I don’t think that the left wants to lose the war on terror, exactly — they just want Bush to lose the war on terror.

This is the kind of crap why I will always attack Reynolds. The left attacks Bush specifically because he is losing the war on terror and making us less safe, and he’s being aided and abetted in that propaganda action by right-wingers like Instapundit.

UPDATE: As Kevin Drum notes, this is the latest in the right’s “stabbed in the back” revisionist history.

UPDATE 2: Reynolds, once again showing how much of a panty-waist he is, launders a rebuttal to this link saying that we’re “defensive” for pointing out his bullshit. Or, if you use Occam’s Razor we’re correcting a highly trafficked media outlet for printing a blatant falsehood. Reynolds & Co. spend endless bits accusing the mainstream press of bias, but call him out for bullshit and he’s got to send a link off to one of his asshat pals to proffer a response for him that he’s afraid to do himself. (Also: How am I supposed to be the “blog bitch” of someone I’ve never heard of? If someone has pwned me, I should know their name – it’s only common courtesy.)

Shorter Oliver: When I think Glenn Reynolds is an asshole, I say it right here. When he thinks I’m an idiot it takes him 4 emails to get to it! (And you should know, even in email he tries to use other people’s words to say what he wants to – he’s that much of a coward)

Matt Yglesias: “Note also the hilarious idea that something might happen “if things go badly in Iraq” as if at the moment everything’s going swimmingly.” Indeed.

MORE: You should also know, this is part of why Reynolds is rarely ever front and center with his own opinions. He cannot take any sort of criticism.

But Hillary says that we “are safer than we were.”

I thought you guys had the same talking points?

  2. Dr. Anatole Gavage-Huskanoy says:

Bush already lost Iraq. It cannot be emphasized enough: Bush lost Iraq. That Glenn Reynolds wants to pin it on the people out of power is the number one reason why he is the most loathsome rightwing blogger. He won’t even admit to his own hateful arguments, much less defend them beyond one-sentence bursts. Truly shameless.

  3. daveinboca says:

Let’s just call y’all Usama’s Fifth Column and quislings and be done with it.

  4. Dr. Anatole Gavage-Huskanoy says:

I agree: the right wing cheered as Bush let Osama get away, and as Bush trashes our constitution and our country. What better definition of fifth column could you ask for?

  5. Graham says:

    Wingnuts.

They are all teeth and claws and not a spoonful of brains amongst the lot of them.

  6. This is the kind of crap why I will always attack Reynolds.

Now, Oliver, I’m very disappointed in you. I want you to diagram that sentence and then rewrite it grammatically.

  7. Tim says:

Geez, but you’re a world class idiot.

Just exactly how is it in our interest to lose in Iraq?

And why is it so damned important to you that we do lose in Iraq?

You piss and moan about “right wingers” saying you want to lose the war, but give not the slightest indication you think the war worth winning. So instead of pissing about Reynolds, why don’t you tell us how he is wrong, exactly.

We’re waiting. We have been waiting since 18 March, 2003. We can wait some more.

  8. It depends on which left wingers he’s talking about. There are those who want to win the war, there are those who don’t want Bush to win it, and then there’s the quite vocal third group that don’t seem to think there is any such war.

  9. condipundit says:

Tim, take your straw man and go sweep up the mess your paymasters/patrons have made in Iraq–a place we had no business initiating war with. ‘Kay?

And you people haven’t been “waiting” since March of ‘03…you’ve been fucking up a war, been wrong at every turn and damned proud of it.

Congratulations to you. And Reynolds. And the whole misbegotten clutch of you destruction rah-rah-ing half wits.

  10. bill l. says:

Much as wingers will ever dance about and twist themselves in a knot to avoid any real discussion of any point made against this administration and its WOT profit center, so to will they ever put words in the mouths of people that were never spoken.

Say “conservative” and they wail back “Republican.”

Say “war on terror” and they moan about “Iraq.”

    Say anything and get “Clinton!”

They break the window and yell at their mother “yeah, sure I broke it, but what are YOU going to do to fix it.”

His business plan is holding the “center” “moderate” position in the MSM. Though he derides the MSM, he depends on TV appearances and newspaper columns and to get those he positions himself as moderate and internet expert.

So he can never take an actual opinion.

  12. Graham says:

You piss and moan about “right wingers” saying you want to lose the war, but give not the slightest indication you think the war worth winning. So instead of pissing about Reynolds, why don’t you tell us how he is wrong, exactly.

As soon as he is right on anything, let me know.

    Until then, STFU.

  13. “Geez, but you’re a world class idiot.

Just exactly how is it in our interest to lose in Iraq?

And why is it so damned important to you that we do lose in Iraq?”

What the fuck are you smoking? We don’t want to lose in Iraq, but it is obvious that is exactly what is happening.

And that’s happening because of morons like you who elected and then re-elected the most imcompetent president of the last 100 years.

Pointing out when someone fails is not the same as wanting someone to fail.

  14. Tim says:

“What the fuck are you smoking? We don’t want to lose in Iraq, but it is obvious that is exactly what is happening.

And that’s happening because of morons like you who elected and then re-elected the most imcompetent (sic) president of the last 100 years.

Pointing out when someone fails is not the same as wanting someone to fail.”

O.k., assholes, you say you don’t want to lose in Iraq, but cannot wait to surrender to the enemy a battlefield victory he cannot win.

You say its obvious we are losing, but exactly how is the enemy winning (other than in the halls of Congress and other courageous places like this blog)? How is the enemy consolidating his victory?

You say you’re only pointing out failure without wanting us to fail. Yet the enemy has not defeated us on the battlefield, and he cannot make us leave Iraq without your help. He needs your help, desperately, to get us out of Iraq. And since 18 March 2003 you have been helping him as much as you possibly can to give him his victory in Iraq over us.

Our enemy cannot win without you. He cannot defeat us without you. He’s counting on you, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and all of America’s Democrats to give him a victory in Iraq over the U.S. he cannot ever win on his own.

Losing? The enemy is losing in Iraq. He cannot and will not win without your help.

God save us from “Americans” like you.

  15. Tim says:

PS: In another sign of the enemy’s “victory,” the democratically elected Government is going to hang your ally, Ali Hassan al-Majid, known as “Chemical Ali,” for genocide against the Kurds.

I’m sure the Kurds are especially appreciative of your support for our efforts in Iraq.

  16. Dr. Anatole Gavage-Huskanoy says:

Tim, just because we’re still in Iraq doesn’t mean we haven’t already lost Iraq. And incidentally, who’s the “enemy”? al-Qaeda? Baathists? Shia militiamen in the Interior Ministry? Who are you talking about? And which leftists, as well?

  17. Nimrod Gently says:

Hey, Tim, who d’you think gave the Hussein regime the Sarin to gas the Kurds with? Oh, that’ll be US. So yeah, if you want to put it like that, he’s our ally. Yours and mine. Courtesy of our governments.

  18. frameone says:

For Tim and his idiot brethren staying = winning. That’s it.

What is actually happening in Iraq doesn’t matter to them. All that matters is that they never have to accept that it was the wrong war, at the wrong time, poorly planned and executed by the president he supported with so much fervor.

  19. Frank says:

I will grant you that staying may not be winning, but leaving is most definitely losing.

  20. mike says:

This is the kind of crap why I will always attack Reynolds.

Sometimes I wonder if you even finished high school.

  21. “I will grant you that staying may not be winning, but leaving is most definitely losing.”

No, Frank, leaving is what you do after you’ve lost. And you lose as soon as you go into a war without a plan.

Without a plan for victory, or even a way to define victory, you have lost.

  22. Mike says:

Frank and Tim, we lost the minute this war the minute we invaded Iraq. Traitors like you are the reason we’re still there. Despite what you think you are not good Americans. You hate America. Leave it.

  23. Nimrod Gently says:

You people still refuse to define terms, so why should we assume you’re interested in honest debate at all?

  24. Constantine says:

You say you’re only pointing out failure without wanting us to fail. Yet the enemy has not defeated us on the battlefield,

And that matters how? The Germans never managed to breach the Maginot line. That really wasn’t much of a consolation for France.

The enemy knows it cannot win and engagement on the open battlefield. Thus, the enemy purposefully chooses to engage the US where it can win– via guerilla attacks.

    leaving is most definitely losing

That is the source of your irrational pathology. You can’t just say, “ok, time to go home.” You’re hung up with the idea that “leaving == losing”

  25. Realist says:

    Sorry, Oliver.

    No Instalanche for you.

Nice try, though. Remain in obscurity.

I love simpletons like Mike & Charlie, they have the rhetorical skills of a second grader so they try and find grammatical errors as if that proves anything. How about presenting some sort of argument? Go play on Myspace or something.
