Violent Muslim, Christian and Jewish extremists invoke the same rhetoric of “good” and “evil” and the best way to fight them is to tackle the problems that drive people to extremism, according to a report obtained by Reuters.
It said extremists from each of the three faiths often have tangible grievances — social, economic or political — but they invoke religion to recruit followers and to justify breaking the law, including killing civilians and members of their own faith.
The report was commissioned by security think tank EastWest Institute ahead of a conference on Thursday in New York titled “Towards a Common Response: New Thinking Against Violent Extremism and Radicalization.” The report will be updated and published after the conference.

Makes perfect sense to me. After all, a Christian, George W. Bush, hired Jews, the Mossad, to coordinate the 9/11 attacks by al-Qaeda, a Muslim terrorist group.

Last night I attended a critics’ preview of “September Dawn,” the movie which depicts that other 9/11: the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre. You know the one…the atrocity committed by extremist Mormons, which that “church” continues to cover up.
And yet, one of them is taken seriously as a presidential candidate.
Maybe Glenn Beck should ask Mitt if he can prove he’s not going to commit a massacre.

I agree that extremists of any stripe are a problem, violent extremists in particular. I just wonder why the discussion is seemingly limited to religions. Are violent non-religious extremists not a problem? For the most part doctrinaire Marxists are areligious, yet more violence has been done in their name than all the religions rolled together.

Look, the reason the discussion jumps to and focuses on religion is because there are more religious people in the world right now than there are doctrinaire Marxists, and more violent religious extremists in the world right now than there are Che Guevaras.
Doctrinaire Marxists do not pose anything nearing the threat of violent religious extremists in the world right now. I know that the right wing has been fond of launching wars against toothless enemies as of late, but this is a bit much.
You might as well start raising the alarm that the Vikings are coming as try to shift the debate to “Marxists.”

Because, if I remember my history, Karl Marx was born in 1818, and his political-economic theory was put into place until the late-19th Century, with actual violence of any kind coming at the turn of the 20th century. So, basically they’ve had about 100 years of time to even attempt violence.
So, please give me the numbers - what atrocities and how many victims at their hands, compared to the last 4000 years at least of violence and horror in the name of a diety. Not just Christians, Muslims, and Jews, but Hindus, Sieks, Shintos, Taoists, Pagans, Norse, Meso-American tribes and empires, etc.
Or did you mean just in the last century? Even if that’s the case, start citing numbers.
I am no fan of Marxism (actually having been born in the Soviet Union and emigrated to the US, as part of the “refusnik” movement - I have more physical and psychological reasons to hate it than you do.)

Are you actually unaware of the horrors of Stalinn, mao, Pol Pot, Castro etc? Surely not. Are you unaware that Marxism is the foundation of modern communism? Are you unaware of Lenin’s adaptation of Marxism re the comintern - to go international? Read the Black Book, Conquest, etc. there is simply no doubt that Marxists are the gretest murderers in human hsitory and if their numbers are now not great, doesn’t that speak to how deadly they are?
