They just keep fading away.
Don Herbert, who as television’s “Mr. Wizard” introduced generations of young viewers to the joys of science, died Tuesday. He was 89. Herbert, who had bone cancer, died at his suburban Bell Canyon home, said his son-in-law, Tom Nikosey.
Mr. Rogers, Mr.Wizard, 321-Contact, Nova, Reading Rainbow, etc. are shows I grew up on.
Emphasizing to children to be intellectually curious and kind to others, these blatantly LIBERAL shows were godsends to parents who had no choice but to leave kids unsupervised to the mercy of the tv. (I, like far too many Afro-American kids, grew up in a single-parent household).
God bless and keep Mr. Wizard. He actually spent his life trying to improve the lives of others and children in particular.
This deserves a comeback — what was liberal about Mr. Wizard? NOVA? Reading Rainbow?
Puhleeeeze!
I always considered Mr Wizaed apolitical – but completely suitable for conservatives. His goal was to teach science for its own sake – not science that must be made to fit a political agenda – like predominant man made global warming (PMMGW – Tm, Dugger).
BTW, PMMGW’ers. Are you starting to get nervous. No hurricanes so far. Last year was a bad year for the Kool Aiders. Surely after all the dire predictions of an Armageddon year in 2007, there should be something by now. Since Squealer has already erased ‘global warming’, lets start calling it “Climate Change But Not Including A lot of hurricanes” . Kinda awkward I know, but what if people really start to think?
“Last year was a bad year for the Kool Aiders”
It certainly was. They got raped in the midterms. This has nothing to do with Mr. Wizard, by the way, so cork it.
Sir Gently, you seem to enjoy the use of the word “raped”. I wonder why.
Just British slang for a heavy defeat really.
