The US Military is under such extreme pressure from the Preznit and the OOP to "For GOD's sake give us some positive news to take to the folks" that they are willing to trade short-term, "right-now" fixes for long-term "do-it-right" solutions. Dunno if it's the 24-hr news cycle, if it's FOX, if it's the White House, if it's the GOP in Congress. But it's not good, and we will pay dearly for it in the end.
