    The Hilton thing is overpowering. I barely even heard about the Kelsey Smith case in the midst of this sturm und drang, and she was white.

    Did you mean to say they’ve made their priorities clear, or that they haven’t? Because I’m pretty sure, based on the first half of the sentence, that you meant to say “they’ve made their priorities clear”, but then you go into the “clear as mud” simile in the second half, which…means unclear.
