You Are Not Journalists

Hugh Hewitt links to a Hot Air entry about the recent “terror” arrest, stating “Hot Air is running rings around the MSM coverage of the latest plot”.

In order, here are the sources of information in the Hot Air post:
- WNBC
- Fox News
- AP
- ABC News
- CBS
- CNN
- NY Times
- Reuters
- The National Post (Canada)

Pretty darn MSM.

Now, I like the aggregation of links, cross referencing news stories, etc. But the constant conservative braying that they are covering news stories because they are linking to news reports is just absurd. These guys like to keep pretending they’re reporters and then see no irony in linking to an AP story as they “report”.

    He does that. I remember a few years ago when he made the same comment about how the blogs were covering a 9/11 hearing better than the “MSM,” even though none of them were actually at the hearing and every last one of them was watching the coverage on CNN. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together would conclude that CNN was covering the hearing, but not Hugh.

    He uses the words “covering” and “reporting,” but he usually just means “spinning” and “flogging.”

    I will file an exciting breaking news alert on this controversy as soon as I get the scoop from my Washington, DC, bureau.

    Oh, wait. I don’t have a Washington, DC, bureau. Damn. But that’s okay. If I turn into a right-winger I can consider myself an ace reporter anyway. And then I’ll prove it by linking to the Associated Press one of these days. Watch out, MSM!

    Do the London, Paris, Tokyo & New York clocks at the Hot Air newsdesk also have Mickey, Minney, Goofy and Dumbo on them?
