Hillary Will Win

Clintonobamadebate0603

That is, if the campaigns of Obama and Edwards continue to kind of dither and spin their wheels in the mud like they essentially did during the debate tonight, Senator Clinton will be the Democratic nominee. She took up a role of leadership and they deferred to her. If those three candidates continue on the paths that they’re currently on, she will win that fight.

Unless Gore enters the race, then all bets are off.

Was there anybody who didn’t think this was a coronation?

So, she gorillas her way into the nomination (or so the Republicans will say), and we’re looking at our first three term President (does anyone doubt the Republicans won’t be forever tossing up the image of Bill pulling the strings — not to mention the fact that, if anything, she is more liberal than he).

I hope the Republicans do something as stupid as they did in New York State.

Oops, I meant Don’t do something as stupid”.

O Dub’s right and Frank still doesn’t get that Bill Clinton is tremendously popular.

  5. Gravatar Icon 5 fd10801

Macswain — what makes you think I don’t know that ex - Pres. Clinton isn’t tremendously popular?
Because I don’t think Clinton II is going to walk into the White House without a fight?

Or is there another reason you think that?

Or, more likely, was it a “cool”. albeit meaningless, thing to say?

  6. Gravatar Icon 6 benny

Even though Edwards was the winner on Daily Kos and MyDD?

  7. Gravatar Icon 7 Jack Larson

I seriously don’t get it. In match-ups with the republicans, Hilary has a difficult time - Edwards and Obama would easily beat McCain, Guliani, etc. but Hilary is in the margin of error. Yet, democrats just keep talking about how this’ll be an easy election and so on. If you want an easy election, NOMINATE SOMEONE ELSE.

Don’t get me wrong, I think she still has a good chance, but she actually admitted on stage during the debate that there’s not a huge difference between the candidates,so why not nominate someone who has the best chance of winning?

  8. Gravatar Icon 8 fd10801

Jack :: The only saving grace for the Democrats is that in the 2008 election, it seems that BOTH parties are forming a firing squad in a circle during the Primaries.

I think the direct attacks on Hillary are in the works. But Obama’s in a double bind. All the male candidates, to some extent, face the dilemma that if they attack Hillary too aggressively, they’ll be perceived as “bullying” her, and that won’t motivate any current supporters to leave.
And Obama has the additional problem of being the “different” candidate, who’s above negative campaigning.
The best thing for Barack, imo, is to launch a really impressive series of tv ads in the second half of the year, beginning in July. I haven’t seen a single Obama commercial yet, but I have seen ads for other candidates.

Also, I continue to believe Edwards will never make it to Iowa. His support is fading, not growing, and as soon as his lead fades in Iowa, he’s a goner.
I’d love a two-way face off between Obama and Clinton in January. I just wonder if the other candidates will read the handwriting on the wall and drop out by the 2nd half of this year, if they don’t make progress in the polls/improve fundraising.

It’s not the same thing when it’s a spouse as when it a son/daughter. Hillary is more her own person vs. Bill Clinton than a son/daughter of Bill would be.

  13. Gravatar Icon 13 Wellstone

Let’s give Hillary credit for running a smart, tough, disciplined race.

She is showing the country, not just Democrats, strength and grace under pressure, an ability to persevere, an ability to take on and accept leadership, and a remarkable focus and stamina.

Had John Kerry shown even half her mental toughness, he would be our President today.

Instead, he failed repeatedly to respond to direct attacks on him and his family, ducked tough questions, and took repeated billionare’s vacation “retreats” to renew his energies instead of showing up every day, every debate, every campaign appearance the way Hillary has.

No question about it: If the Senator from NY eventually does get the Democratic Party nomination, she will have earned it by showing up in 2007.

And she will have won on her own merits, not Bill’s. It wasn’t Bill on that stage yesterday.

  14. Gravatar Icon 14 MestizO

she’s smart & tough. tested by fire.
    heh.

  15. Gravatar Icon 15 SaveFarris

instead of showing up every day, every debate… the way Hillary has.

    Uh … what?!?

The reason she’s been so “successful” at fending off attacks is that there haven’t been any. Or at least any substantial ones from any of the other Democratics.

  16. Gravatar Icon 16 Wellstone

Oh, and something else: Dems know she is the LEAST Liberal, MOST Conservative of all the major Dem candidates.

And yet she still leads all polls.

  17. Gravatar Icon 17 Wellstone

Uh, Farris? Hate to break the news to ya, but FOX wan’t planning a “debate”.

They were planning a GOP Campaign event where their lineup of paid shills and whores could practice playing “gotcha!” on Dem condidates and where at the very least they could discredit, demean, and demonize all the Dem candidates the way they did after the CBC-FOX debate in September 2003. And who knows? Maybe they could even elicit a “Dean Scream” moment from Hillary!!

Do the words “Nine Dem Dwarves” mean anything to you? They was used at FOX and other right-wing media early and often in the 2004 cycle.

Good for Hillary, and good for all the candidates who decided FOX and their pundits have never shown the least intention of being fair and balanced when it comes to Dems.

  18. Gravatar Icon 18 SaveFarris

And you know this … how? Ah, that’s right: conjecture and speculation. Perfectly acceptible for liberals but outrageous, possibly criminal, if done by a conservative.

  19. Gravatar Icon 19 Wellstone

I know this… because I watched the Democratic Party Candidates try to “debate” on FOX in September 2003. As I stated above. With the results I described above.

Jesus, Farris, if you’re going to try to keep playing the naïve defender of all things Conservative, at least try to keep up, willya?

    LOL!

Did anyone else notice the serious man love between Edwards ans Obama? Are they getting ready to gang up (wouldn’t that be a cool payback for Bill and Monica) on Hillary?

She will likely win and the Dems will likely lose if that is the case. Her negatives are too high.

A FOX debate hosted by Alan Colmes with Juan Williams and Shephard Smith as questioners might work. More likely they’ll get hume, Hannity and O’Reilly who will tell them to shut up when he doesn’t like their answers. Looking for votes on FOX for Hillary Clinton would be like trying to find an atheist in Congress.

  21. Gravatar Icon 21 Duros62

Anyone know why Gravel was so far off stage left? I still think he and Kucinich are a riot and have no chance of getting anywhere, but they do have some interesting points to make.

  22. Gravatar Icon 22 SaveFarris

Do the words “Nine Dem Dwarves” mean anything to you?

    They don’t to Google.

More likely they’ll get hume, Hannity and O’Reilly

Even more likely, they’ll get Chris Wallace, Wendal Goler, and Jim Angle.

  23. Gravatar Icon 23 Wellstone

Try “Nine Democratic Dwarves” for 11 pages of GOOGLE hits.

  24. Gravatar Icon 24 SaveFarris

A phrase so memorable, stinging and biased that you misquoted it?!?

  25. Gravatar Icon 25 C.S.Strowbridge

“She will likely win and the Dems will likely lose if that is the case. Her negatives are too high.”

Her negatives are well known and she is still more popular than the top four Republicans.

With Bill, she could put some of the southern states in play, (Arkansas and Florida). With Richardson as her running mate, the Dems could win in New Mexico, Nevada, perhaps even Arizona).

So far, not in evidence. Wake up and pay attention while all your whacko pals thump their chests and sing bomb bomb bomb Iran.

The reason she’s been so “successful” at fending off attacks is that there haven’t been any…SaveFarris

    Actually Edwards tried, and failed

While Republicans are praying for another 9-11
…“At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001 ], and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country,” Milligan said….

Farris, showing off his GOOGLE expertise.

Boy, nothing gets by this rapier-sharp researcher!

    Heh.

I repeat my original premise: FOX Sucks. Dems did the right thing.
