How They Think

Conservatives look to a statement by actor Robert Mitchum advising that we couldn’t pull out of Vietnam and should nuke the place as some kind of sage advice relating to Iraq.

Or something.

The comments are good and frightening. I especially enjoy the irony of somebody agreeing with wholesale slaughter of “barbarians” as if said action would prove we were “civilized.”

He also made an album called “Calypso – Is Like So” and died ten years ago. So there you go.

I’m surprised they didn’t pull ol’ John Wayne out of mothballs. There’s someone who’d have been insufferable had he existed at the same time as this administration.

    WWRMD?

Was he talking about the liberals, when he said, “If they won’t learn, kill ‘em”?

If not, then that was vewwy wong!

    Hehe

Perhaps the FartAir blog should just cut to the chase and dig up former painter’s quotes that would suit their agenda?

Should I ignore Frank or call him an idiot? It’s a tough call. No doubt calling him an idiot for making such a completely idiotic comment will unleash a tirade of paranoid ranting and lunacy that will totally derail the thread. But then again, the whole question under discussion — should we apply Robert Mitchum’s ignorant comments on foreign policy from decades ago to iraq today — is so totally nuts to begin with what the hell:

    Frank, you’re an idiot.

PD: I think they are saving the Final Solution hyperbole for the Mexicans. And teh gays.

    Seconded. In perpetuity.

Mr.Pipeline: You have the sense of humor of nearly all the commenters on this blog: none.

But you did get to call me an idiot.

    Yippee!

The guy who posted this seems to have been having a little joke, but boy, some of his commentators sure took it seriously didn’t they?

Just goes to show that a large chunk of the 28 percenters live life inside a b-movie. Their president is Robert Mitchum, Vice President John Wayne, Dirty Harry is the Attorney General and the Secretary of State is Ripley from Alien.

Next up… Fred Thompson as the Great White Hope.

  11. Matt says:

“the Secretary of State is Ripley from Alien.”

If only. Ripley had the good sense to commandeer the tank and rescue the Marines when Gorman froze up.

  12. jimmmm says:

Said Mitchum, “you can’t pull out of the human race.”

Damn, there goes the GOP’s last best hope for survival…

  13. SpiderJ says:

Matt – Nice. And I’m sure there’s actually a very interesting analysis waiting to happen between Iraq and Aliens…starting with a corporate lifer who uses the military, in an attempt to profit from an untenable situation in a faraway region…

That Bobby Mitchum is quite the staesman! And that’s really saying something when a drunk, stoned and dead Hollywood actor makes more sense than our present boots-and-presidential-gonads-obsessed Secy of State. :)
