They’re lucky that in this two-party system we have one evil party and another amazingly stupid but well-intentioned party because otherwise they would have no base.

    I would argue that this is the logical conclusion of ANY two-party system. It’s like playing pick-a-number with only two people playing — if the first guy picks 10, you don’t pick 1, you pick 9.
