  1. Dugger says:

No, he’s not. The thrust of the article is not the technical issue of exactly when and where DDT has and has not been banned but that many have died because of the DDT scare promulgated primarily by Carson. DDT has in fact been banned in the US and several other parts of the world. And while its is true that certain countries have used it for anti-marlarial purposes, several others have not becasue of the concerns raised by Carson and enviro-hystericals.

“Similarly, Roger Bate of AFM asserts that many countries have been coming under pressure from international health and environment agencies to give up DDT or face losing aid grants, and that Belize and Bolivia have gone on record to say that they gave in to pressure on this issue from the US Agency for International Development.[26]

Many African nations want to use DDT to control malaria and save lives, but they have been told their agricultural exports may not be accepted if spraying was “widespread.”

I have no doubts that some misunderstand that DDT has not been banned worldwide, but environmnetal scare mongers do have blood on their hands re DDT – as WaPo and Reynolds etc say.

    Rachel Carson on DDT:

Practical advice should be “Spray as little as you possibly can” rather than “Spray to the limit of your capacity.”

    Heh. Indeed.

  4. Here’s the part where Dugger’s lying: “many have died because of the DDT scare promulgated primarily by Carson”

  5. Andrew says:

At the end of the day, the overwhelming preponderance of scientific studies support the fact that many hundreds of thousands, primarily in Africa and certain Far Eastern countries, have died directly as a result of the work of Carson and the acolytes who blindly followed her, including, it would appear, Ollie.

  6. archiesteel says:

Another point Dugger so casually glosses over: massive use of DDT makes mosquitoes evolve a resistance against it faster…or perhaps Dugger doesn’t believe in evolution…

  7. Dugger says:

Bullsh*t. If DDT didn’t work, they wouldn’t be using it. Pure and simple. Compare the Rachel Carson/Enviro-hysterical deaths by lack of DDT usage versus the casualties in Iraq.

  8. Nimrod Gently says:

“The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don’t alter their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views. Which can be uncomfortable, if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.”
