The Breaks

It’s always kind of interesting to me that most of the people who are against all forms of affirmative action are the ones who are not the target. I think the system needs tweaks, but have also never fooled myself into believing we’ve reached anything close to racial, sexual or societal equity.

Wake me up when a righty writes a piece decrying all the nepotism, legacies and other assorted non-merit based advancements from which well-connected whites continue to accrue massive benefits that make minority based affirmative action look like the drop in the proverbial bucket.

And of course we, nor any other society, ever will be as you say. We are humans and all are different. What a boring world you would have. Bunches of little grey automatons all the same. I’m sorry but Dirk Nowitzke and Tiger Woods should make more money than OW or I. We ain’t and never will be equals.

whoever said that “racial, sexual or societal equity” was a goal? as I recall, the founding fathers wanted to stop paying taxes to the Queen, and created a country where freedom and liberty was cherished above all. “all men are created equal” is simply an observance of how our creator endowed us, it’s not a goal that government programs are supposed to establish and enforce.
