You get the sense that at any minute now Bill O’Reilly will have a meltdown that will make people like Joe McCarthy and Morton Downey Jr. seem mild by comparison.

And it will be entertaining as hell.

    Every time I see Morton Downey Jr.’s name I think of Robert Downey Jr. “Okay, The Singing Detective was pretty bad, by why lump him in with McCarthy?”

    Ratings, schmatings. American Idol consistently trumps everything in its time slot; it doesn’t mean it’s a good show or a fine example of American culture.

    Watch the clip of him arguing with Gen. Clark over Soros last night – Clark is calm and collected while Bill O looks like he might either strike Clark or explode into flames.

    I distrust schadenfreude–hubris tends to be a pendulum.

    As much as I dislike the right wing schlock-star, I only hope that his audience declines either by the effects of old age, by waking up to his schtick, or by realizing that he’s an overused joke.

    According to BOR, those nasty ” far left elements” are turning traditional conservatives away from Brian Williams. In fact, he said, the elements were responsible for the poor ratings for the Republican debates…

    Could just be that not many folks wanted to watch it. Plus, Tweety’s a joke.

    Olbermann’s ratings stopped growing almost a year ago. He’s held steady ever since. Yeah, he had the exponential jump, but there’s been no follow-up since.

    Remember when “the trends” said Air America was going to overtake Rush? Good times…

    Olbermann’s ratings peaked in Novemeber, which is about six months ago:

    Hmmm. Why would a news organization peak in November of 2006. What could have happened then that caused a spike in viewers?

    Nice of you to cherry pick the one night BOR is pre-taped while everyone else is live with the VATech latest. THAT’s a trend?!? Whatever…

    The actual latest numbers have Olbermann losing in the demo by nearly 3 to 1. Heck, O’Reilly’s midnight repeat beats Olbermann LIVE 2 to 1 in the dmeo.
