"Negroponte, the man responsible for the estimate, the OPR, says their conclusions are wrong"

Yeah. Like I trust him.

He comes from the same administration that is still pushing a Saddam / Al Quada connection.

No. Thats CNN, not the intelligence community, speculating on an excerpted release of a clssified document from the NY Times. Negroponte, the man responsible for the estimate, the OPR, says their conclusions are wrong - completely out of context. Furthermore the quotes are from military commanders in the field and concern Iraq. Why would military commanders in Iraq be the experts on state-side terrorism?

I did a count of incidents on MIPT, a site OW used. Its all manual. Feel free to have at it if you want to count fatalities. there are very few - a testament to the President.

"I don't see where the intelligence community is saying we are in more danger."

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0609/25/ltm.01.html

Here's the money quote:

What we see now is President Bush's top 16 intelligence agencies confirming this for him. This undercuts the Bush administration's whole strategy on the war on terror. You're helping them, not hurting them.

"And the left's crimes are greater than mere vandalizing. Arson, major property destruction, sometime injuries, even fatal injuries."

Can you give a breakdown of fatalities by left wingers compared to right wingers?

"I have no problem with busting militia types or any other kind for breaking the laws, but I don't like mind reading as being a proof of a crime.."

So I guess it never entered you mind that when the police said they were planning on killing Mexicans they maybe had some proof of that. Like written proof. Or maybe a confession.

"Don't realize that at all. In fact, I think its downright false."

So you think you intelligence communities are all wrong on this point. Every single one of them? Wow. That's an amazing claim. I'm sure you have proof for that.

"MIPT data ..."

equates a bomb planted at an abortion clinic in an attempt to kill someone is the same as people breaking into a research lab and spray painting animal rights slogans on the wall.

In other words, one attack is one attack regardless of the level of violence involved. So while the left has a lot of people vandalizing labs, construction projects, fur farms, the right has people planning on killing people based on their national origins.

(And yes, they were only planning, but that's cause they were caught first.)

I think both groups should be brought to justice, but they can't be equated.

CS

Don't realize that at all. In fact, I think its downright false. And those militia groups. You do understand that 'looking" to do something as you suppose they are doing, is quite different from doing it, right? MIPT data shows that the overwhelming number of terrorist attacks on our soil since 9-11 have been by left wing extremist groups. Very, very few anti-abortion and no militia attacks.

Does anyone actually think this story will live up to today's hype? How's that saying go? Fool me once shame on you, fool me 48 times....

My guess is we'll soon learn (in the back pages, not the headlines) that these guys were as dangerous as the Miami clown show broken up a while back.

..."

Agree 100% this will turn out to be another clown show.

Someone called Oliver (not O. Willis) above made a statement about the Army and civilian law enforcement.

The Posse comitatus act in 1877 forbade military enforcement of civil law.

The act was a payoff by Republicans to the south for giving them a presidential election that they'd lost.

That payoff ended Reconstruction and made the south safe for Jim Crow.

"Nahh. The country is more safe."

Uhhh... You realize the entire intelligence community disagrees with you, right?

"Per MIPT, about the only terrorist atatcks we have to deal with now are by left wing political groups - mostly your enviro buds."

So what about that militia armed with guns and grenades looking to kill Mexicans. I guess they were doing it on environmental grounds.

And yet again, pres Bush protects the homeland. Yet again. Don't you progressives hate it. "

Dugger - you've almost outdone yourself on inane comments.

McVeigh and Buds were "small taters?" please... tell that to the families of the victims.

And George didn't initiate the investigation, carry it through and then arrest them. The FBI did. Get a grip sport.

Or are you saying that George is responsible for everything the Justice Department (and other cabinent agencies) do?

G'head... I dare ya. ROFL

"...are going to be scared by being arrested."

Yes, Jay, because we've sure got terrorist quaking in their boots around the world since we invaded Iraq. Why they're so scared there hasn't been a single attack in Iraq, in like, what? The last 2 minutes? The surge must be working. Jesus what an idiot.

"What Sen. John "I went to Vietnam so vote for me" Kerry was suggesting was that we fight terrorism with law enforcement exclusively."

Nope. That's not what he said, that's just the lie the right-wingers spread about him.

"And, if he wasn't suggesting that, but he didn't make that clear, well, then, tough luck."

Translation: I don't care about reality, I only listen when my fellow right-wingers tell me what I want to hear.

“What Sen. John “I went to Vietnam so vote for me” Kerry was suggesting was that we fight terrorism with law enforcement exclusively.”

Nope. That’s not what he said, that’s just the lie the right-wingers spread about him.

“And, if he wasn’t suggesting that, but he didn’t make that clear, well, then, tough luck.”

Translation: I don’t care about reality, I only listen when my fellow right-wingers tell me what I want to hear.

What's that, Jay? I thought we were talking about Alabama militias and Albanian jihadists.

You were saying?

Although I also admire the bodaciousness of Miss Alba, Oliver and I are not the same person.

Quaker: old
Oliver: young

Quaker: bearded
Oliver: clean-shaven

Quaker: far, far left
Oliver: moderate left

Quaker: Batman
Oliver: Superman

Quaker: Labrador Retrievers
Oliver: Weiner dogs

So you see, Jay, in spite of what you might have imagined, when Oliver writes something and then I write something different, those two things are not necessarily equivalent, or even related.

They were so upset about it that the first day George Bush came into office he went to war against Islamic Extremists, right? Then after 9/11 he certainly wasn't foolish enough to do exactly what the terrorists wanted us to do by invading and occupying a middle-eastern country, right? Here's a news flash: when we arrest these guys they don't get to kill anyone, but when we invade the wrong country we just make new ones.

BTW, weren't Terry Nichols and Tim McVeigh a couple of rednecks in the sticks? A giant explosion in downtown Oklahoma City says that it doesn't take a lot of those "rednecks in the sticks" to cause chaos.

And Quaker you kill me. This is a joke, but we're supposed to believe a bunch of rednecks in the sticks of Alabama represents a clear and present danger.

Did I say that? Let me save you the trouble of checking: I did not.

When it comes to logic, sir, you slay yourself.
