I quarterback the Redskins to the Superbowl before Rudy Giulani becomes the Republican party’s presidential candidate.
Federal tax returns made public by the former New York mayor show that he and his then-wife, Donna Hanover, made personal donations to national, state and city chapters of Planned Parenthood totaling $900 in 1993, 1994, 1998 and 1999.
One of the other campaigns gave Politico the information – my guess is it was McCain’s people.
To quote Theodore Edward Kord, BWA HA HA HA HA HA.
B-but, the Republicans have a big tent!
I’m guessing Huckabee, actually. He used the more-Republican-than-thou schtick masterfully with the Clinton quote. He’s my dark horse Rethug, the guy who may well do better than we think, an affable wingnut.
With the missteps the McCain campaign has made so far, anything smart out of them seems, well, out-of-place. And since it doesn’t tell us anything new, I doubt it matters. Besides, when did Giuliani do anything with one of his wives after they tied the knot?
Didn’t you say “his then – wife, Donna” contributed the money?
Maybe in McCarthyesque algebra, Giuliani is guilty, but not in the real world.
Won’t make any difference to the people it’s meant to influence though. A story gets boiled down to essentials. Nuances like the actual identity of the donor get lost.
Oh, also it says “he and”, before it says “his then-wife Donna”, so it’s irrelevant.
NG: That’s a might fine – tuned ananlysis of New York City and United States politics from 3,000 miles away.
Have you been in touch with the BBC USA correspondent?
Frank, are you trying to argue to piss someone off, or just being incredibly dense? I never can tell with you.
Diamond LeGrande, why don’t you break off the interview, and get into the spirit of the thing.
I made my point. Oliver goes in for that “I see your name is on this paper — did you or did you not give $900 to Planned Parrenthoood?”, and he thinks it has some earth shaking significance.
I say it means diddly squat.
Nimrod peers through his telescope from across the sea, and avers that it “will agitate the base”, because “nuances like the actual identity of the donor get lost”.
That might be true, except that if it becomes necessary, they will twist Donna’s arm, and get her to say that it was her idea, not to mention that it isn’t just nuances that get lost. This is May, 2007. That story will be forgotten by Mothers’ Day.
Now, do I seem either unnecessarily argumentative or dense to you?
I hope not, because if you have nothing more to say, I sure don’t.
Neither, Frank. You now just seem stupid and pathetic.
Thanks, Diamond. I knew I could always count on you for a substantive reply and a fair assessment.
I don’t know. I think he campaign was over when he married his second cousin. Most conservatives still don’t know about that detail of his personal life.
Listen, it could be revealed that Rudy performed abortions and it wouldn’t make a difference with the most fundie conservatives if they thought he had the best chance of winning.
fred is stupid and pathetic. he proves it here time after time.
He’s just trying to piss me off because I pointed out the enormous hole in his argument.
NG: Let’s take a quick look at the “enormous hole in my argument”.
Who would you say knows more about Rudy Giuliani and New York City Politics?
You: Residing in England.
OR
Me: Residing in the New York City metropolitan area, who grew up listening to New York City radio, watching New York City television, and reading New York City newspapers.
I worked for the Internal Revenue Service (Inland Revenue to you), when Rudy Giuliani was the assistant US Attorney, and US Attorney, and cooperated in his fight against organized crime.
Still think I “was trying to piss you off”?
Off Topic, Nimrod, what do you think of The Pipettes?
I love them!
Who was commenting on New York politics? I was just talking about the realities of political campaigning and the way the media works. That’s pretty much universal to the western world. “A story gets boiled down to essentials. Nuances like the actual identity of the donor get lost.”
I quite like the Pipettes.
