Here in Michigan, the during the last governor election, Dick Devos did that all the time. It’s a Christian conservative thing. They always smile when they are thinking, “why, you little child, you are too stupid to agree with me, but because I am so wise and compassionate, I will overlook your stupidity. After all, God is on my side!”.

I accidently got stuck on Fox a day or two after the GOP debate. The Fox folks were all over Matthews for asking “very tough questions” and “badgering” the candidates. Like Matthews has ever asked a Republican a decent follow-up question. And the questions they said were “hardball”, sure didn’t sound that way to me.
If you ask a conservative to tell the truth, you will be accused of being unfair to them.
