As a retired General, his opinion is as valuable as Mr. Whipple’s of Charmin fame.

If he had said that everythings fine and the war is going great, what would the “enormity” be then?
As a retired general, who has a much better idea of what he’s talking about than you, I’d say his opinion is worth more than 2-ply absorbency.

The problem with disagreeing with Bush or giving him news he doesnt want to hear is that you quickly decide you “Want to write a book and spend more time with family”.

This whole Iraq thing now has become a Bush hostage crisis, where he won’t do what needs to be done because the meanies will think he’s weak.

(And he doesn’t realize how weak that makes him look, but the grown-ups do.)

I love it. Every GOP COngressman but 2 voted to support George W Bush. They are going to PAY for that come ‘08.

It’s the duty of Nancy Pelosi and Reid to make sure that bill comes due, and it’s accurate. And to keep piling the charges on!!

Enlisted for what exactly? If you’re 60 now, as you said, you’d have been 54 in 2001. I’m looking it up, but that seems quite advanced to enlist in the forces.

Trust me, pedro, in one year Batiste may or may not be running as a dem but it’s guaranteed that no one, absolutely no one, running, whatever their political persuasion, will want to be associated in any way, shape or form with the policies and people of the Bush administration. Stop it, Rounds. Anybody can hear an explanation, and say, “Nope, that won’t do”. I’ve seen it here a thousand times. The last time I offered what I thought was a justification for the war, from the moment it began, until this very moment, you know what Oliver’s response was (I paraphrase)? “Yeah, ’til they change it next week”. In other words, he couldn’t say it was a bad idea, he couldn’t argue against it.

And, that’s that.

Every time someone tries to explain why we need to stay there, you let John Cole or Josh Marshall or the execrable Jon Stewart or Bill Maher do your talking for you.

I read blogs every day, but I also read scholars, military men and diplomats, too.

Townhall, JWR, AEI, all have very smart people.

What I’d like to know is why you lefties can’t find the Generals who want to kick ass and take names (but leave their pencils home), but you can always find the “ooh, ooh, let’s get out!” Generals?

Let’s agree that there are generals who believe in the Iraq effort–plenty of ‘em. My guess is they’d be hard to find because they don’t volunteer to speak up.

I know this is surprising, but people who generally agree with the way things are going tend not to make a lot of noise.

Are lefties looking for generals, or are they coming forward on their own accord?

Why can’t righties offer up a believable explanation as to why invading Iraq was a proper response to 9/11, making this a worthwhile effort on our so-called “war on terror?”
