Pedro: "<i>prewar, none of those entities believed that Saddam DIDN'T have WMDS</i>"

Got any evidence to back up that claim? Didn't think so.

From my 3rd link: "To suggest that European states agreed with Washington’s WMD assessments but put their citizens at risk of nuclear-biological-chemical poisoning is too farfetched to believe."

"<i>citing sources that say someone doesn't want to go to war...</i>"

you're so smart, Pedro, it's not hard to see why everyone believes you're a real doctor. Did you even look at the links? Didn't think so.

Let's see, we've got the CIA, the IAEA, the Senate Intelligence Committee all saying that the administration's claims are false. We've got several European governments saying the same. What else do you want? Do you want Germany saying that they don't believe the testimony of Bush Golden-Boy Curveball? <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/05/21/AR2005052100474.html" rel="nofollow">Here</a>.

From that link: "The German said his service 'was not sure whether Curveball was actually telling the truth.'" (Curveball is the one who gave the false info about the mobile weapons labs.)

From that same piece: the National Security Council "believed the nuclear case was weak."

And <a href="http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/05/30/1054177726543.html" rel="nofollow">This piece</a> which explains how the Australian intelligence agency knew that "US intelligence on Iraq was badly skewed by political pressure, worst-case analysis and a stream of garbage-grade intelligence concocted by Iraqis desperate for US intervention in Iraq." But also "It wasn't just the Australians who were mystified by the accumulating US trash. The French, Germans and Russians had long before refused to be persuaded by Washington's line."

And the kicker: "Australian intelligence agencies made it clear to the Government all along that Iraq did not have a massive WMD program."

So to sum up: Pedro = Dumbass.

Ahh scott ritter...the man who refused to discuss prisons built to torture children by saddam, because he was afraid it was too inflammatory...

Yea, please use him as a source more often.

nihilistic I don't know what you are talking about...prewar, none of those entities believed that Saddam DIDN'T have WMDS....and citing sources that say someone doesn't want to go to war dos not refute that....

Pedro: "<i>Next dumb-ass leftist argument please...</i>"

Are you fucking kidding? I just pounded you down with multiple citations refuting your bullshit unsubstantiated claim that "every other intel service in the world" knew Saddam had WMDs and all you can do is stick your fingers in your ears and say "la la la la I'm not listening to you?"

So Dick Durbin and the Senate Intelligence Committee are "euroweenies"? The IAEA and the CIA are "euroweenies"? The Bush Administration are "euroweenies"?

You're a typical conservative, Pedro. You think you're <i>sooooooo</i> smart, and yet you can't seem to come up with any argument other than "Nuh-uh! Bush is great! Lib'ruls suck!"

I guess I shouldn't have expected more.

"C.S. How about some evidence to back up your specious statement that "most" of the intel community knew saddam was giving up wmd, cause that is not what every other report has said."

Ever heard of Scott Ritter? Probably not.

He's a republican. He voted for G.H.W.Bush in 2000. He was also the chief weapons inspector in more than a dozen inspection missions in Iraq and was part of more than a dozen additional missions.

He said Saddam didn't have WMD and said that most of the intelligence back him up.

Added to the numerous reports of politicians trying to fix the intelligence to back up their war plans, it's clear that the intelligence didn't say Saddam had WMD.

I actually protested Politico or MSNBC's right to be involved. They haven't played fair with the Left much better than Fox has. And we threw Fox out.

Brian Williams, god that guy is such a slimyslug, (no dis to slimyslugs) was programmend to take the debate out of the debate and turn the Dems appearance into a boring non-event.

You watch, Matthews will turn his debate into a pro- Republican orgy against the Dems.

If you thought you'd hear about what's good for the people, the country or the world, think again.

For that, I suggest you listen to Hugo Chavez on FreeSpeech TV.

Oil at half price anyone?

Of course not.</i>

What the flying monkey fuck does that have to do with anything?

Matthews is a first-class A-one buttlicker of the highest order.

He laughed right along with Ann Coulter on the numerous times she has disgraced the airwaves, so freakin' what?

Hedley,
Congress can specifically designate what funds are to be spent upon, and probably even designate that misuse/misdirection of funds triggers a revocation of all funding authorization. Ergo, they have the constitutional authority to end the war, and to even set a rough timetable for ending it, simply by designating what the funds are for, and that failure to use the funds for this purpose will result in no further funding.

The perfect way to call Bush's bluff on all this is to give the Iraqi government exactly one year from passage to meet all benchmarks, with the consequences of non-compliance on too many points being the cutoff of all funding for operations there by the end of 2008, with the timetable of redeployment to be determined by the chief executive in consultation with the military.
If Bush vetoes that, what's the rationale?

"I oppose this bill because it prevents me from passing the buck to the next guy."

If Matthews invited any comedian slightly to the left of Goebbels, they would probably do the same.

Pedro,

How about <a href="http://www.isis-online.org/publications/iraq/al_tubes.html" rel="nofollow">this guy</a>? He knew what was up. And according to his report, so did the UN Security Council, the IAEA, and "many experts on centrifuges and Iraqi rockets" (who viewed the CIA analysis re: the aluminum tubes as "atrocious and deceptive.")

The best line: "This case serves to remind us that decision-makers are not above misusing technical and scientific analysis to bolster their political goals. The problem is that such a strategy denigrates the process of conducting impartial technical analysis and misleads the public."

We were lied into a war, Pedro. The Cheney impeachment will expose all of the lies, so stay tuned.

And according to his report, so did the UN Security Council, the IAEA, and “many experts on centrifuges and Iraqi rockets” (who viewed the CIA analysis re: the aluminum tubes as “atrocious and deceptive.”)

The best line: “This case serves to remind us that decision-makers are not above misusing technical and scientific analysis to bolster their political goals. The problem is that such a strategy denigrates the process of conducting impartial technical analysis and misleads the public.”

We were lied into a war, Pedro. The Cheney impeachment will expose all of the lies, so stay tuned.

<i>repack, I didn't realize it was YOU in the ninja suit that was smarter than every other intel service in the world and knew exactly what was going on in Iraq.</i>

I wasn't alone. There were lots of other people marching in the streets with the same message who all seemed to know.

Everyone on DKos knew. And it turned out they were right.

Do you attribute that to a remarkable coincidence?

The reason I joined DKos was because the predictions there have turned out to be the most accurate of any over the last few years. I go with what works.

The Constitution gives the legislative branch the power to declare war, but nowhere does it give it the power to end war. While the legislative branch also has the power to raise and fund armies, it has no control over the placement of the military. Thus, while it is well within Congress' power to choose to defund the war, establishing the withdrawal of troops is beyond Congress' power -- that is for the commander in chief.

Will O-Dub report Matthews let Bill Maher bash Bush and laughed along with him.

Of course not.

Of course Bush went along with the ideologues. Does anyone really think that The Decider really makes any decisions apart from which killer episode of Tom & Jerry to watch? W couldn't find his ass with a funnel.

What is hard to believe is that Chris Matthews apparently believes that W has any ideas of his own.

sorry repack, I didn't realize it was YOU in the ninja suit that was smarter than every other intel service in the world and knew exactly what was going on in Iraq.

C.S. How about some evidence to back up your specious statement that "most" of the intel community knew saddam was giving up wmd, cause that is not what every other report has said.
