in my constant (somewhat futile) crusade to have Ollie write headlines that have some relationship to truth:

“MSNBC allows ANOTHER liberal host on air”……

  2. pedromd07 says:

    in Ollie’s breaking news…

    “Hot chocolate found to be…hot”

  3. Bill says:

    Hey Pedro,

Allow me to serenade you with an old Stephanie Miller chestnut:

You’re a lying sack of crap,
You’re a lying sack of crap,
You’re a lying, scheming, stinking, nasty sack of liquid crap!
    *plink* *plink*

Now crawl back under the bridge, troll.

  4. pedromd07 says:

hehehehe….I love it when even the diehard lefties can’t argue my point and head straight into personal attack….

    Thanks Bill!

  5. Rounds77 says:

Okay, Pedro, you’re right, Oliver should’ve used the word “another”.

Now that we’re past that, wouldn’t you agree that having “another” liberal on the air helps to balance out the right-tilted talking heads that have proliferated in recent years? And I say this looking you straight in the eyes.

  6. pedromd07 says:

I don’t mind having another lefty on the air…..but I disagree that it “balances” anything out. Remember that for decades the only right-wing voice on tv was John McCloughlan, so even with Fox being right leaning, we are still at a numerical disadvantage.

The premise that most journalism doesn’t have a lefty bias is just prima facia ridiculous. I don’t even mind that it is there, just recognize it. I used to read the washington post regularly, cause it was a well written paper, you just had to recognize the inherent bias when you read it….

  7. Lib4 says:

MSNBC allows ANOTHER liberal host on air

Wow 2 whole liberals on the air for one day and pedro gonna freak

I guess you conviently forgot to remember for the better part of 1.5 years MSNBC had three right of center types including Imus, Tucker, and Scarborugh on the air on a daily basis. Couple that with the fact they were also the network that FIRED Phil Donohue in order to hire RW bigot Micheal Savage and I guess in Pedro’s world that makes MSNBC a “liberal” network..

Also could you kindly provide proof of this so called “….. premise that most journalism doesn’t have a lefty bias is just prima facia ridiculous ”

ohh and btw fyi just b/c a media source is critical of a corrupt Republican does not indicate “bias”

  8. pedromd07 says:

I agree reporting on a corrupt R doesn’t indicate bias….I base my statement on simple, well documented facts:

In their 1986 book, The Media Elite, political scientists S. Robert Lichter, Stanley Rothman and Linda S. Lichter reported the results of their survey of 240 journalists at the nation’s top media outlets: ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report. When asked about their voting patterns, journalists admitted their preference for Democrats:

Of those who say they voted for major party candidates, the proportion of leading journalists who supported the Democratic candidate never drops below 80 percent. In 1972, when more than 60 percent of all voters chose Nixon, over 80 percent among the media elite voted for McGovern. This does not appear to reflect any unique aversion to Nixon. Despite the well-publicized tensions between the press and his administration, leading journalists in 1976 preferred Carter over Ford by the same margin. In fact, in the Democratic landslide of 1964, journalists picked Johnson over Goldwater by a sixteen-to-one margin, or 94 to 6 percent.

  9. Quaker in a Basement says:

    In their 1986 book,

Golly, how time flies. That was…lessee…left hand, right hand, left foot, other left foot…uh oh! I plumb ran out of fingers and toes to count how long ago that was, Peed’.

Guess you’ll have to find something written in this century!

  10. pedromd07 says:

I don’t know, if Ollie can continously refer to “southern democrats” as making up the republican party, I would call this data pretty recent..

but hey, prove that the numbers have changed today…..I’ll wait…

  11. doug r says:

    Mmmm….Stephie

  12. Nimrod Gently says:

What inherent bias, for God’s sake? The American media bend over themselves to appease the Government lest they seem to have a “liberal bias”. And of course Fox is just plain ridiculous.

You just like being the victim. Also reality has a well known liberal bias and you’re confusing that with reporting.

  13. jimmmm says:

Pedro knows it, but won’t admit it: Political affiliation doesn’t indicate bias in reporting. See, there’s this thing called “professional ethics.” Pedro’s a Republican, so I’ll wait while he goes to look it up.

Case in point: The late Lars-Erik Nelson. A lefty, one would think, no?

    Actually, not: http://www.goodbyemag.com/nov00/nelson.html

See, unlike Pedro, who thank GOD is not a newsman, people can separate their personal beliefs and professional actions. Fox News is unique, as it is a party organ.

And of course reporters are mostly liberal. They’re educated. Duh!

  14. pedromd07 says:

    ahhh yes, journalistic ethics…

    Dan Rather

    The various photoshop scandals

    Jason Blair

    Thank GOD for journalistic ethics….

I’m not sure what the educated crack is about though….Ollie never went to college, and I am double-boarded in medicine…

  15. WingBot 3000 says:

LOOK BEHIND YOU A THREE HEADED MONKEY

  16. Duros62 says:

if Ollie can continously refer to “southern democrats” as making up the republican party, I would call this data pretty recent..

Hey, look over there! Something shiny!

  17. Duros62 says:

Ollie never went to college, and I am double-boarded in medicine…

More proof that education =/= intelligence.

  18. If you believe Pedro is a doctor I’ve got a PhD to show you. Well, unless he went to the Jayson Blair/Stephen Glass School of Medicine.

  19. jimmmm says:

Pedro: Citing the exception as the rule is NOT the same as disproving a point.

That you’re ignorant to this maxim, and that you post an awful lot during “work” hours casts further doubt on your claim that you’re a doctor.

  20. Anecdotally speaking, the doctors I know have zero time for blog posting.

  21. pedromd07 says:

actually Jimmmmm one of the beauties of being a physician is that you are your own boss…I do what I want, when I want to…I blog post between cases….

You should expand your “anecdotal” experience there “dr” AGH….

  22. jerry says:

Pedro, here’s another Stephanie Miller clip with your name all over it.

  23. Randy Brown says:

    Ped{r}o:

Ollie never went to college, and I am double-boarded in medicine…

And the current president is a Yale graduate. SO WHAT IS YOUR FUCKING POINT??!!

  24. pedromd07 says:

here randy, let me help you with a point….I’ll do this slow for you..

    Jimmmm said:
“And of course reporters are mostly liberal. They’re educated. Duh!”

This sentence infers that if you are “educated” you will be “liberal”. I know, I know, it doesn’t come right out and SAY it, so I can understand you confusion.

I was simply pointing out that I am WAY educated, and am not liberal, and ollie has a high school diploma ( I assume) and IS liberal.

See? I was using fact to argue against someone elses point! Amazing huh? I know you don’t see it here much, but I thought I would help you recognize was “discussion” and “argument” looks like in the civilized world….

  25. jerry says:

This sentence infers that if you are “educated” you will be “liberal”.

    Sentences can infer nothing.
