Not in Iraq…
In a troubling sign for the American-financed rebuilding program in Iraq, inspectors for a federal oversight agency have found that in a sampling of eight projects that the United States had declared successes, seven were no longer operating as designed because of plumbing and electrical failures, lack of proper maintenance, apparent looting and expensive equipment that lay idle.
Titled “Echo-Chamber Message” — a public relations term for talking points designed to be repeated again and again — the Sept. 7, 2005, directive was unmistakable: Assure the scores of countries that had pledged or donated aid at the height of the disaster that their largesse had provided Americans “practical help and moral support” and “highlight the concrete benefits hurricane victims are receiving.”
Many of the U.S. diplomats who received the message, however, were beginning to witness a more embarrassing reality. They knew the U.S. government was turning down many allies’ offers of manpower, supplies and expertise worth untold millions of dollars. Eventually the United States also would fail to collect most of the unprecedented outpouring of international cash assistance for Katrina’s victims.
Do not put people in charge of our government who hate our government.
I’m reminded of P.J. O’Rourke’s quote: Democrats campaign on the idea that government works. Republicans campaign on the idea that government doesn’t work, then get elected and prove it.
If you try to understand the Bush administration based on their policies, you’ll have a hard time. Their policies are incoherent.
Based on simply politics — well, maybe it’s a bit more persuasive, but their politics have been pretty inconsistent, except for the liberation of their inner nine-year-old: “Ha! I win!”
But if you step back and pretend not to have ever heard of policy, or politics, it starts to add up.
This Administration seems to be all about rape and pillage. The rest, such as it is, is window dressing.
Hate government? Naw, they love government, when it’s twisted to their purposes. It’s more like “Do not people who hate black people in charge of our government”.
MY favorite “Bush Reconstruction of Baghdad” story is the Baghdad Police Academy.
Days after the brand-spanking-new buildings and campus were opened, the poor cadets had human sewage raining on their heads.
Corruption and mismanagement had caused construction so poor that second-floor toilets and sewage water leaked and overflowed and poured a rain of human waste on the heads of everyone on the ground floor.
In my mind at the time, it was a metaphor for the entire Bush reconstruction effort on the country and people of Iraq, not just the Baghdad Police Academy.
In view of Katrina and so many other things, the rain of human waste and sewage on everyone on the ground floor is the end result of everything the Bushies touch, that gift of reverse Midas that keeps on giving.

I wish any of our infamous trolls would inform of us at least one monumental success created by Bush. These guys must be defending the commander-in-whatever for some good reason (one would think). It seems that the only thing to report are Bush disasters. And they’re documented everywhere, not just in the left-leaning blogs.
Please trolls, help me make sense on how your brains (for lack of a better term) operate.
Well, Rounds, he has so far accomplished in six years what Pres. Clinton accomplished: He is still President despite his opposition’s best efforts to oust him.
That makes him and Pres. Clinton equal so far.
Troll defined: Troll
I repeat, for about the one hundredth time, that a troll is not simply someone who disagrees with you.
“I repeat, for about the one hundredth time, that a troll is not simply someone who disagrees with you.”
Again, frank, you are an endless source of amusement.
Just add “moronic” or “idiotic” comments to that definition of troll and this statement:
qualifies you nicely. Although I guess you’d have to know you were an idiot to do this delibrately. Since your level of self-awareness is nil, the above post case in point, I guess you have your out, frank.
I’m sorry, could someone tell me just how the Dems have tried to “oust” Bush?
Of course, I’m still not clear on how Bush still maintaining his death grip on the throat of our Republic establishes the success of projects under his watch like the multi-billion dollar crony feeding frenzy reconstruction of Iraq.
Wait, a post with no seeming relevance to the subject at hand? One that seems to only exist to re-frame the debate by celebrating a loathed public figure with a comparison to his more beloved predecessor?
I’m sure there’s a word for that…
Bush accomplishments [partial list\] Recession, loss of three American skyscrapers, loss of mid-sized American city; two wars lauched and lost; poorest economic record since Reagan/Bush, politicization of DoJ; numerous violations of the Hatch Act; illegal domestic spying; world-wide network of Gulags. Nope, Bush is waaaay ahead of Clinton.
One of these days, my head will explode from reading one of Frank’s post.
“Look at the monkey! Look at the silly monkey!”
(South Park? Anyone?)
Not even a credible try/claim FD… but I suppose if you can ONLY use that minute claim to equate the two – then yes, he’s matched Clinton there.
As for the rest? BWAAAAAHHHHAAAAAAAAAHHHAAAAAHHHA
“Well, Rounds, he has so far accomplished in six years what Pres. Clinton accomplished: He is still President despite his opposition’s best efforts to oust him.” That’s a sucky success story.
“(v.) (1) To deliberately post derogatory or inflammatory comments to a community forum, chat room, newsgroup and/or a blog in order to bait other users into responding,” that’s you, Frank.
frameone: It took you a few words to say I’m an “idiot” and a “moron”, but you’re still a gasbag with nothing to say.
bill l.: I guess you haven’t heard about all the scandals and investigations that “began” oh, about JAN 2007? Jerk.
Rounds: “Oh, yes you are” is really amateurish.
“…but you’re still a gasbag with nothing to say.”
hilarious. Tell us, frank, are you so lonely and devoid of meaning that sometimes you post comments here just hear yourself typing? Sure seems that way …
Sure seems that way …
OUTRAGEOUS!
Add Iraq’s Bush trained politicians to your list of those who can’t do anything right:
Listen to this Iraqi Foreign Minister’s bull****:
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSCOL94259820070429
“… Democratic plan to pull U.S. troops from Iraq is being exploited by al Qaeda, which has stepped up attacks to hasten a withdrawal, Iraq’s foreign minister said on Sunday.
Hoshiyar Zebari said Iraq had become “entangled” in domestic politics in the United States, where there is growing impatience for progress…
“…”The problem is patience is in short supply in Washington … They (the Democrats) are looking for quick fixes, immediate results. There are no quick fixes.”
Can you believe this ****?
So now it’s “the violence has gotten worse only because we’re ‘talking’ about withdrawing.
..And Al Quaeda is the cause of the violence, and it’s the Democrats that are stirring them up?
…And our ‘personal problems here are ‘interfering’ with their war..over there?
..And we’re (the Democrats) looking for “quick fixes” to end the war?
How dare this paid crony of an Iraqi ‘leader’ say such lies after 5 years of Bush having a free hand?
I’ll tell you why he dares.
Notice he too, like Bush, focused solely on the pending September legislation in the Iraq Parliament. The surge and the fighting are focused around the Parliament Building. The final solution to solving everything, for Bush is inside that Parliament Building.
Bush’s future relies on what Parliament does, for he and his friends.
They wait only to feast on the Iraqi peoples final act of real desperation.
Hoping they’re desperate enough to sign over their country’s national resources to sweaty foreign hands.
Something we or any other proud nation would never, ever do.
Frank, standing pathetically aginst the wall crying, “It is SO the way I say it is! Meanies!!”
while being pelted with wads of facts by the kids in the reality lunchroom.
You’re like a clumsy, predictable cartoon character, Frank.
And you ARE a troll.
But seriously, besides keeping his chair for 6 years, what has this admin. accomplished? You know, for the public good?
Bueller? Bueller?
Wow, 2 hours have elapsed, and none of our friends on the right can come up with anything?
Duros, he caught a big honkin’ fish at the “ranch.” That counts for something, doesn’t it?
Yeah, except he lied about how big it was.
Versus reality (again).
Buh…buh…buh, Duros!! It was bigger than any fish Clinton ever caught!!1!1!
Yay! I win!
Well, ya got me there. I stand defeated.
Man, I can’t believe it. Nothing from the Bushy cheerleadeing squad?
Pedro? Dugger?
Frank?
It wasn’t a perch, leftist, it was a bass! The president said “bass”! The liberal media got it wrong! I WIN!
I think the prosecution rests.
Bush had to catch it because Clinton let it get away!
True what Oliver said, but also keep in mind the opposite:
Do not put people in charge of government who love government.
Healthy skepticism is the ideal. Clinton had it. Reagan had it.
Bush had to catch it because Clinton let it get away!
But Bush still can’t find a 6′6″ diabetic nut job.
Damn those islamofacist perch!
Islamofishes!!
Ha! =D
