I’d like to think most Americans care about things like context and nuance as well.

Duros is simply confusing you with Jay, by the way, so keep what hair you have on. Since you’re both reading from the same talking points it’s an easy mistake to make.

I guess you misunderstood me — nothing new around here.
It would be GOOD for the Republicans to be characterized as set upon, as victims.

Unlike the creatures that inhabit this blog, most Americans abhor bullies, and like to back the underdog. They don’t like to see politicians gang up on reporters for writing critical commentary.

And, of course, I don’t ever remember saying that Democrats need a thicker skin (I’m sure you’ll run off now and find some comment that sounds like that).

Admittedly, “dumping” on the accuser worked well for the Clintons (1992 – 2000), but will it work for the Democrats between now and 2008?

Pretty soon, the President and perhaps Republicans in general are going to come off as victims, and the Democrats as abusers of power (which I believe they are, any way) in the mind of “Joe Six Pack”.

And he’s who matters.

A silly overblown reaction to one little article which is going to be quoted and repeated on the news and pundit shows as “evidence” that the Democrats are disunited and that Reid is a crazy crank.

As to how many times they’re gonna do this over the next few years?

No its a case of refuting the central charge (that Dems in general are ready to ask Reid to step down)in a misguided article by someone who clearly needs to pack his bags and head for Florida with the other Septuagenarians
