Dick Morris gave the win to Obama, simply for holding his own.
Makes sense to me.

Is this the same debate to which all of the participants flew gas guzzling, carbon spewing private jets to?

<a href="http://www.newsday.com/news/politics/wire/sns-ap-campaign-planes,0,4666247,print.story?coll=sns-ap-politics-headlines" rel="nofollow"><a href="http://www.newsday.com/news/politics/wire/sns-ap-campaign-planes,0,4666247,print.story?coll=sns-ap-politics-headlines" rel="nofollow">http://www.newsday.com/news/politics/wire/sns-ap-campaign-planes,0,4666247,print.story?coll=sns-ap-politics-headlines</a></a>

Were there any questions about the Kyoto Protocol or global warming? Thought not.

THat sounds great Oliver, IF any candidate in this type of debate format could actually explain a policy and how it would work better. Unfortunately, this type of debate only generates sound bites, thus they are all compelled to waste time injecting the President into their one minute non-answers to see who can show up on the news.

Like I said- it would be the same with Republicans in the same type of format, thus a debate like this is all about style than substance at this early point in the race.

Well Marty by all indications the Republican candidates look to carry on the policies and ideas of their idealogical ally in the White House so I think its more than legit to contrast more of the same failed policies with a new approach.

And why the heck are they debating over a year out for? I'm ready to ignore them all (Reps. and Dems.) until at least the year of the election.

ALthough I do find humor in them all running against someone who isn't.

What's your plan for X candidate A?

This president has screwed X all up and I'll do better.

Can you be more specific?

X was much better before this President came into office.

O.K. Let's try this- how much will your plan cost?

Well if this President had listened to me, it surely wouldn't cost as much now.

So how much?

Look- the American people is tired of how this President has run X, so we're going to have to make it better.

(Kinda like that Wal-Mart answer. DAMN- just got caught paying attention. Stop it now.)

Just an FYI- I don't expect the Republican debates to be any better this early.

horrible debate format.

My expectation was that Obama would put in a decent but non-spectacular performance. Mission accomplished. Every candidate had one or two points they stood out on, and one or two they stumbled a bit on.
