Rudy Giuliani Conveniently Forgets That 9/11 Happened On The Republican’s Watch

Rudy Giuliani, the thrice-married, estranged from his son, criminally-connected Republican candidate for the presidency made a really silly assertion:
Rudy Giuliani

Rudy Giuliani said if a Democrat is elected president in 2008, America will be at risk for another terrorist attack on the scale of Sept. 11, 2001.

But if a Republican is elected, he said, especially if it is him, terrorist attacks can be anticipated and stopped.

“If any Republican is elected president —- and I think obviously I would be the best at this —- we will remain on offense and will anticipate what [the terrorists] will do and try to stop them before they do it,” Giuliani said.

But you see, Rudy, 9/11 happened during the Bush presidency and the last time I checked, even though you guys seem to be attempting a Stalinist whitewashing (like this), George W. Bush is a rock solid Republican. You campaigned for his re-election, in fact, walking side by side with him on top of the corpses of the 9/11 dead (and some feel Giuliani’s leadership of New York helped to make some of the problems worse). Frankly, Rudy, more Americans have been killed via terrorism under this Republican president than any president in the entire 231 year history of our nation. It was a Republican president who ignored the warning signs before 9/11, it was a Republican president whose reaction to 9/11 was a deficit of leadership, and it was a Republican president who chose to respond to the attacks by invading the wrong country with a botched strategy that has led to the deaths of an additional 3,000+ Americans.

Frankly, if we are to do the best we can to prevent the loss of innocent American lives the last thing anyone should ever do is vote for a Republican. Recent history proves that’s way too much of a risk to take.

5 years….no successful attack on US soil

    Brand Republican…..Be-atch!

  2. 6 years… worst terrorist attack in U.S. history (and several attacks against U.S. citizens, allies and military in those “5 years).

    Brand Republican, moron.

  3. merlallen says:

anthrax. republican’ts always put their team first, America second. ALWAYS. stupid goddamn peedro.

  4. SpiderJ says:

More GOP “the Democrats don’t care if terrorists kill people” nonsense. It would be comedy if so many people didn’t think it was true.

  5. michael says:

“5 years….no successful attack on US soil”

And shark attacks are way down! Haven’t seen any tigers around lately, have you? It’s my magic rock!

  6. pedromd07 says:

More lefty “magical” thinking from the surrender party of america the democrats

No michael, it is our “magic” Marine corps and our “magic” Navy SEALS.

  7. Nimrod Gently says:

Shut the fuck up, goddammit. The point is that Guliani is directly claiming that voting Democrat WILL lead to another attack on the scale of September 11th, 2001. Which is probably the stupidest thing he’s ever said. This week. Stop flubbing.

  8. michael says:

“No michael, it is our “magic” Marine corps and our “magic” Navy SEALS.”

Who, by being in Iraq, are doing exactly as much to protect the US as they would if they were in Antarctica.

  9. Dugger says:

Nimrod, of course he’s not saying that. Now go back and pay attention to the anti-semitism rampant in your own back yard.

  10. Duros62 says:

No, doogie, of course he’s not saying that. Except that he is saying that.
    Tool.

  11. pedromd07 says:

yea michael, we can see how unprotected the US is by the huge numbers of attacks on american soil….great thesis you have there.

Nimrod are you 12 years old?

  12. Nimrod Gently says:

No, but apparently I’m anti-Semitic, presumably because Dugger just found it in a dictionary or something.

I do find it funny that someone whose debate style is barely that of an 11 year old is criticising an adult for seeming 12 years old.

  13. michael says:

And you can see how my rock works against sharks by the huge number of shark attacks. Correlation is not causation.

And you’re forgetting the anthrax mailings, which would be considered by most people to be a form of terrorism. But since they weren’t perpetrated by the fearsome Iraqi Terrorism Machine, you and your Republican government don’t seem all that interested in following up on that.

  14. Dugger says:

Nimrod, Apparently you can’t read. Are you unaware of the anti-Israeli hate campaign going on among leftists in your country – particularly those affiliated with educational institutions.

    and duros,

Rudy’s statement is true isn’t it? We will be at risk. I mean after all, if they attack us with a Dem pres, you guys will take them to court, they will get out on bail, attack us some more, go back to court and get freed by the heirs of Kunstler and Cochran (if the suicide bomb don’t fit, you must acquit!).

  15. midderpidge says:

Dugger is correct, we will be at risk with a Dem president. What Rudy and Dugger don’t want to admit is that we will be at less risk than if we had a republican president.

  16. Nimrod Gently says:

Yes, I am unaware of the hate campaign against Jews being perpetrated by the British left. Which is odd, seeing as I live here.

I guess what I’m trying to say is shut up, you don’t even know what the left looks like.

  17. Dugger says:

Not odd at all Nimmmer. I assume you are just as uniformed about your own political scene as you are about ours.

    Cheers.

  18. Duros62 says:

We will be at risk regardless of which party holds the White House. I will concede that to that extent, Rudy’s statement is correct. But I agree with midder that more steps will be taken under Democratic leadership than we have seen so far.
And it is incredibly stupid and disingenuous for Rudy to make a bone-head statement like that.
    See Olberman n for more.

“Claim a difference between the parties on the voters’ chances of survival — and you do Osama Bin Laden’s work for him.

And we — Democrats and Republicans alike, and every variation in between — We — Americans! — are sick to death, of you and the other terror-mongers, trying to frighten us into submission, into the surrender of our rights and our reason, into this betrayal of that for which this country has always stood.”
