John McCain Is A Classless S.O.B.

I know John McCain is hurting in the polls.
I know John McCain is running out of campaign money.

But did John McCain feel like he had to pander to the wingnut gun nut segment of the Republican party so badly that the first thing that came to his brain after the Virginia Tech Massacre was GUNS! GUNS! GUNS!.

Sen. John McCain said Monday the shooting rampage at Virginia Tech does not change his view that the Constitution guarantees everyone the right to carry a weapon.

"We have to look at what happened here, but it doesn’t change my views on the Second Amendment, except to make sure that these kinds of weapons don’t fall into the hands of bad people," McCain said while campaigning in this Texas-Mexico border city.

McCain was just following in the gun-crazy footsteps of his best buddy George W. Bush, but my God these are some sick people.

My phony outrage meter just broke.

Do you know where I can find another one?

Yeah, I guess McCain couldn’t be as ‘classy’ as the Brady Campaign, Violence Policy Center, Rep Carolyn McCarthy.

You can bet that other ‘classy’ people are merely waiting for the right moment to start being more ‘classy’ and look to use this tragedy as a political football. I guarantee it will happen.

Hey I have got an idea

Why doesnt an enterprising DEM propose BANNING GUNS for Non-US citizens…

Then watch the car wreck as the overzealous NRA tries to support immigrant rights to bear arms…

That would put all Repubs in a quandry….support immigrant gun rights for all or support partial gun control….

Yep, McCain’s just guarding against the onslaught of knee-jerk reactionaries (just like yourself, Oliver, and the blog you linked to) that will use this shooting to push for even more gun control.

Nevermind, that being caught with a gun on the campus of Virginia Tech already results in expulsion from the school.

Actually, that would put gun control, illegal immigrant supporting libs in a quandry.

You can come to our country. But we won’t allow you to defend yourself.

So GravyPan, your choice is “dodge the question”?

The NRA would be opposed to non-US citizens being banned from owning guns. Their position is that the 2nd amendment protects the right of people to bear arms. The constitution protects citizens and non-citizens alike.

As such, if we take away the protection for non-citizens under the 2nd amendment, why not the first? Or the fifth?

  9. SpiderJ says:

I have to wonder if the shooter was required to show his militia ID to the person who sold him his weapons. Y’know, that well-regulated militia that should not have its right to bear arms impinged?

  10. SaveFarris says:

There’s worlds of difference between “non-citizens” and “Illegal non-citizens”. Unfortunatly, Lib4 doesn’t seem to see any distinction. I guess we left that child behind.

  11. Fair says:

I investigated this further to be fair. He only said that in RESPONSE to a question asked to him about whether his views changed on the second amendment after this tragedy occurred.

  12. nihilistic_disintegration says:

    From CNN:

“A source familiar with the investigation said the weapons found at Norris were a Walther .22-caliber semi-automatic and a 9 mm Glock”

McCain: “except to make sure that these kinds of weapons don’t fall into the hands of bad people.”

Sounds to me like McCain supports gun control.

  13. Duros62 says:

Just not, y’know, habeus corpus or anything.

McCain: “except to make sure that these kinds of weapons don’t fall into the hands of bad people.”

Well, is that on the application?

    Check one:
    Are you a bad person?
    Yes
    No

  14. Gravypan says:

We left Duros and nihilistic behind, too, Farris.

It’s interesting Oliver hasn’t had anything to say about Obama comparing this tragedy to somebody who has watched their job go overseas. Or comparing it to being called a ‘nappy headed ho’.

Oh, I’m sure we might get a ‘that was stupid for Obama to make that comparison’. It just won’t come with the same kind of outrage he reserved for McCain.
