What A Stuck Pig Sounds Like

('DiggThis’)

This is in reference to his sexist, racist, homophobic behavior and not his size, but my goodness Rush Limbaugh is squealing like a stuck pig against Media Matters because somebody is, for once, actually listening to what he’s saying.

  1. Dr. Anatole Gavage-Huskanoy says:

Limbaugh is worse than Imus. The real difference is that his sponsors, backers, and fans can’t be made to feel shame about his bigotry. When he calls Obama a “halfrican American,” they laugh approvingly. This is the end result of Reagan going to Philadelphia, MS: white segregationist racists took over the GOP. Now it’s your interparty battle, conservatives. Your moral and electoral anchor. Let’s see how you deal with it.

  2. Pete says:

What a stuck pig sounds like?

    Naw, son. That’s fear.

  3. Ian says:

“…because somebody is, for once, actually listening to what he’s saying.”

Yeah, cause he isn’t the most listened to radio host evah or anything.

  4. Wilbur says:

You’ve got a point, Ian. Oliver should have said…

“…because somebody with a brain is, for once, actually listening to what he’s saying, and writing about it.”

  5. Sundown says:

    Ian,

Yeah, and Mike Tyson was one of the most popular boxers. He’s still convicted of rape nonetheless, and Rush, despite his audience, is still a hateful white supremacist.

  6. merlallen says:

maybe he’ll die of a drug overdose. that would be funny.

  7. Wilbur says:

    No, it wouldn’t.

  8. Dugger says:

Funny how when there is evidence of Bush’s lack of popularity, its “THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE!”

    AMERICA REJECTS BUSH!!”

    blah blah blah.

Yet when you have the amazingly popular Limbaugh who has sustained for almost two decades, you make nary a mention of his popularity.

And BTW, only your brain dead leftist posters here are fooled by the canard that you are not Soros funded.

“Media Matters for America is funded in part by the Democracy Alliance.”

And who is the key billionaire fat cat for the Democratic Alliance. Soros. Nothing like being honest.

  9. I concede, Dugger: Rush is quite popular among racists and conservative conspiracy theorists.

  10. In fact, I think Rush is the most powerful and popular racist in broadcasting.

  11. LMMatthews says:

I’ve listened to Rush Limbaugh for nearly as long as I’ve been alive. First because I come from an extremely conservative family and now simply because it would seem I love to get angry. (I guess it doesn’t say much for my life that I spend my spare time yelling at the radio, but whatever.) I find it particularly funny that Limbaugh is whining about how he’s “taken out of context” – that’s a load from a qualified life-long listener with a brain. He’s an ass – popular or not – and he is without a doubt a bigot and a sexist. However, he has every right to say what he pleases. That’s the American way.

On another note, I firmly believe that Imus should not have been fired – not because I agree with him or I find him funny – he’s another one I didn’t like but listened to – but because censorship in any form is still censorship. Just because someone is an offensive ass doesn’t mean they should be stifled, left right or center.

In a perfect world everyone would agree and we’d all get along and no one would say these things or have an audience for them. This is not the perfect world. This is real life – it’s hard – get a helmet.

  12. Wilbur says:

Funny how when there is evidence of Bush’s lack of popularity, its “THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE!”

Yet when you have the amazingly popular Limbaugh…

Do we really have to point out that the former is the result of a scientific poll of a broad sample of the American public, while the latter is based on a self-selecting group of people who by definition like listening to a reactionary gasbag for hours on end.

C’mon, dugger, you’re really not stupid enough to believe that’s a valid comparison, are you? You’re just being dishonest as usual, right? Admit it, you’ll feel better about yourself.

  13. Wellstone says:

Limbaugh kinda LOOKS like a stuck pig, too! Good one, Ollie.

I’ve been hearing REAL panic in HateRadio: With the fall of Imus, they can see that their “millions of listeners a week” bullshit means little when a ClearChannel or ViaCom corporate board meeting is deciding the next business move and the direction for a bunch of affiliates.

Hey, let the market speak out. All MediaMatters does is shine a light and bring out to the attention of the few corporate sponsors exactly what their dollars have been funding.

And it lets consumers and markets decide what they want to be supporting with their dollars.

There’s a reason why Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, Boortz, Beck, Ingraham, Savage, and other HateRadio shows feature endless commercials from Vita-Life, herbal medicines, and facial treatments.

Mainstream corporate sponsors are hard to find with HateRadio, so wingnut welfare, millions of right-wing dollars from bogus businesses have to be fed in to keep these Right-Wing propagandists and liars-for-hire on at all costs.

I got the biggest laugh of the day yesterday, when Limbaugh said this:

“… But they will say that their purpose is to eliminate conservative information because it’s misinformation.

Because there’s a template, and the template is conservatives are racist, and as such they have to be banned. Of course. In the culture, we can’t put up with this. They’ve gotta be banned from cable. They’ve gotta be banned from Fox News. They’ve gotta be banned from radio.

Conservatives are also liars. That’s another template: Conservatives are liars. They’ve gotta be snuffed out — and this is the purpose of the drive-by media, the Democrat Party, and the Clintons, who are funding with their supporters all these watchdog efforts.

This is Stalinist, folks. This is an attack on certain kinds of information that is protected by a template which says, “All conservative information is misinformation. It is reported by liars and racists,” and that’s the foundation under which they all proceed, and they’re all in on it.

It’s — and that is what is happening. It’s — you know, it’s a general rule, they would love to do this…”

As is usually the case with wingnuts, there’s no responsibility or accountability.

It’s as if the hateful bile he’s spewed daily for the last twenty years had NOTHING to do with it? No, those – those – those EVIL Lib’ruls MADE him do it!!

That’s it, with their mind tricks and media coercion, they MADE HIM open up “Club Git’mo”!!

    Honestly.

  14. George Soros FORCED Rush to deploy racism against Barack Obama and Carol Moseley Braun.

  15. LMMatthews says:

Regardless of how much of an ass – popular or not – that Rush is, he still has a right to say what he says. He’s not trying to incite violence and neither was Imus. Should they be on free radio from a market standpoint? Probably not due to the nature of what they say – paid radio would be a better option – but that’s a market issue, and I’m sure they’ll end up there eventually simply because not everyone is into their brand of crap.

It’s sticks and stones, and a politically-charged grade school argument at that. You’re not talking about actual newcasters here – Rush and Imus are glorified opinion columnists. They are entertainers (though I don’t find either to be entertaining). They aren’t news anchors. Holding them to that standard is moot.

My greater concern here is how far do we want to take this? When Oliver implies that Bush is an imbecile or Rush is a pig that’s okay, but Imus’s comments and Rush’s squealing aren’t? That’s a dangerous double standard and a slippery slope …

  16. So you’re saying that Rush’s employers should be forced to keep him on, no matter what he says? Who is the entity that forces them to renew his contract?

I think instead that such decisions should be left up to the employer. If they think their employee is too shameful to keep on, then they should be allowed to fire that employee. Alternatively, if they decide to keep that employee, they should be prepared for other people exercising their right to publicly shame their racist employee with his own words. It’s a free country after all, LMMAtthews. No censorship took place, and there’s no slippery slope. If there were, we would have gone down it a long time ago with Jimmy the Greek. Nothing about the Imus situation is new at all.

  17. If CBS was pressured into dropping Imus by their own shareholders and employees, how is that less of a “market issue?”

  18. LMMatthews says:

You’re right – the employer has every right to fire him. The sponsors have every right to pull their money. I’m glad they did. But what I’m saying is the crowd that suddenly started crying foul (’cause if you’ve heard Imus this isn’t the first time he’s said something more than a little bit out of line) here smacks of impending censorship. “You can’t say that” is far different than “you should know enough to not say that”. “You can’t say that” brings to mind banned books, movies, and McCarthy. “You should have known better” or “you’re an ass” make the allowance that you had a right to say it but you’re an idiot for doing so. Perhaps I’m making too much of it, but I find it disconcerting.

  19. I have no idea how expressing outrage to sponsors and private companies is somehow censorship. Had the FCC gotten involved in the Imus issue, I would have been right there defending his sorry ass.

Re: Democracy Alliance, Dugger is as usual just an idiot who repeats talking points like the Limbaugh listeners who emailed MM yesterday. You can’t think for yourself or do independent research on your own. Some right wing idiot said “X” and you believe it.

  20. So Imus has a right to say racist things, but people don’t have a right to complain to his employers? Is that your argument, LMMAtthews?

  21. LMMatthews says:

Anton – No they have every right to complain. I just hope then when one of his co-workers makes a comment like his they do the same thing.

Oliver, you’re right there. No FCC no foul I guess, and it is a market decision. But don’t hold your breath waiting for Rush’s sponsors to pull out – he is a very popular moron. He’s the highest-paid bullshit artist on the air. I can’t stand looking at him – he for some reason comes off as one of those scary poleyester-pants wearing old greasy-haired neighbors that your parents wouldn’t leave you alone with – creepy. Ick. Nonetheless he’s a successful drug-addicted liar.

I just get nervous when people start with the “you can’t say that” stuff, which is a lot of what I’ve heard the past few days around here.

And please don’t put me anywhere near Dugger in the thought category – I’ll lose my freakin’ lunch.

  22. I just have a different read, LMM. Instead of hearing critics say “you can’t say X” in some sort of absolute sense, I’m hearing critics say “you can’t say X without us publicly shaming you about it,” which is basically all that anyone did in the Imus case. If X is actually shameworthy, then the critics will be listened to. If it’s not, then they’ll have no effect.

In the case of Limbaugh, what’s he’s said is actually very shameworthy, but his bigot fans, and bigot backers HAVE NO SHAME, and so the critics have had little impact so far.

  23. Dugger says:

    LMMathews

“And please don’t put me anywhere near Dugger in the thought category – I’ll lose my freakin’ lunch.”

No problem here. I don’t consider you in my category. And keep trying to suck up to the haters here. That’ll work. I suggest submissive cyber urination. Maybe they’ll like you then.

    And, OW, BTW:

    You said:

“Re: Democracy Alliance, Dugger is as usual just an idiot who repeats talking points like the Limbaugh listeners who emailed MM yesterday. You can’t think for yourself or do independent research on your own. Some right wing idiot said “X” and you believe it”

Hmmm. Powerful ol’ Dugger now controls Wikipedia

In May 2004, the New York Times reported that Media Matters has received “more than $2 million in donations from wealthy liberals” and “was developed with help from the newly formed Center for American Progress”.[13] Media Matters has received financial support from George Soros’ MoveOn.org, Peter Lewis and the New Democratic Network.”

No, no Soros money here. Move along. Move along. Look over there!!! Bush is firing attorneys!

  24. Anyone got a clue why Dugger is so obsessed with trying to convince people to be frightened of/repelled by “Soros money”? Is “Soros money” qualitatively different from “Scaife money” by any chance?

  25. Squirrel says:

LoL! Dugger’s been squeeking incoherently since last November.

  26. You blame the election, but I think it was the death of Don Knotts. I shudder to think what’s going to happen to Dugger when Andy Griffith finally kicks off. Poor guy.

  27. Dugger says:

Hey, OW. What about that ‘no Soros money”? Wiki and the entire Internet lying? Rovian plot?

But I’m willing to be reasonable. Maybe you meant not ALL the money comes from the obscenely wealthy billionaire Soros or maybe he didn’t hand it to you directly.

  28. So Dugger’s argument is that Soros gave money to MoveOn, and that MoveOn then gave money to Media Matters? And therfore the money is contaminated?

Seems like the only thing you’ve proved is that you have a weird fixation on the imaginary dangers of wealthy Jews, Dugger.

  29. Wellstone says:

    Dugger, really.

You CANNOT use WikiPedia as a source!

If you were to hand in a research paper today with WikiPedia citations, your Professor would have a grand ol’ time with the red Sharpie before you got it back with an “F”.

Actually, I’m kinda surprised you’re not citing from Conservapedia: A Conservative Encyclopedia You Can Trust! tm
