What if a black radio program called the white players on the Alabama football team a bunch of slick haired red necks? Would Billy Graham come out and get involved and push for the radio station to fire the person that said it? I do not think so. Why do other races have things like the NAACP. If a white guy tried to start this for white people he would be, God knows. I think to end racism, we should have no division and no groups that exclude. America would be a stronger country if we were united. Thank you Glenn Brandon

why does this post 3 times ?My the feeling on this had changed! If this had been handled by don and the girls on the team this would be over now.You know, at the end of the day The basketball team and the coach and Don Imus look like the only level headed people in this matter. Both showed class and let everybody they were all good people. In my opinion the tide has turned on this Imus situation. The changes will now get underway. From here I expect some heads to roll at MSNBC,Many people will have to answer a lot of questions.but in the end a whole lot of money will be paid to Don Imus and staff. From what i am hearing and reading several people involved at msnbc have regrets over the fireing. GM and MSNBC are in a very bad place. They have public opinion and the courts to battle. It seems they are on the short side of both with the facts agianst them. It is my thought that a managment team at GM that would get so involved and use its money to get don imus fired then give in to the likes of sharpton and jackson with their [rent a croud] or[rent march ways]ways power should come under fire. But now Don Imus is going to be fine and the other sides are about to enter a world of lawyers, paying money, and trying to get over this.i do not think msnbc will survive this it has been too damaging and the on air depth is just not there! If i were an advertising i would pull the plug after they blamed gm and others for this mess.last one out the door at msnbc catch the lights,,,thanks glenn

My last words on Imus: I am new to the world of blogging so please excuse my caps on some messages. I don't type well and I just forget. Back to Imus-- let's cut to the facts. Imus did say things he should not have said, but Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are the problem. They are the cause and effect as to why we have gone through the hell we have gone through. This is not about race. Sharpton and Jackson are the worst human examples in America and do not represent the mid stream Black Americans. I felt bad about what Imus said and none of us Imus folks agree with the words he said. He should have gone to the girls and said he was sorry-- as he did!! They, with class, forgave him. This could have ended and changed shock radio by moving the bar and changing the standards of what's ok. The parties involved had nothing to do with it. I am sorry this has gotten so far out of control with Imus and many other people having been hurt. When this is over the other side will hurt-- sad but true! MSNBC, GM, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are guilty for much more. The price for this will be great. I HOPE MSNBC HAS TO SHUT DOWN, IMUS GETS MILLIONS, AND THE PEOPLE THAT CAUSED THIS HAVE THEIR POWER TAKEN AWAY AND MAYBE SOME GO TO JAIL! I have say-- all of you that conspired to end a man's life work will pay a high price. Most of America feels this way I belive. As said in World War II, you awoke a sleeping giant! glenn brandon do what's right

To the supporters of Imus:
The sad thing about this Imus situation is the fact that if the girls on the team and Imus had met and moved on as they both wanted to do, I think the show would have changed because Imus was as upset about what he said as anyone. I never heard one call for Imus being fired from the the girls on the team. They forgave him....Maybe they are real Christians who are decent people and forgive instead of making this a racial/political event. No one condones with what Don Imus said that morning. A 2 week suspension was reasonable. However, I heard on the news last week about a certain board member of msnbc and two political /racial activists meeting after hours with msnbc management and pressuring them into firing Imus. If this is true, to me this is a crime. If not literally a crime, this was certainly a conspiracy to advance racial/political positions to the detriment of Imus and to the detriment of what is right. If anything like this story is true Imus should be reinstated and he should be apologized to......I am calling on the long time advertisers, friends, musicians, authors and politicians to stand up for the man that sold their books and records and helped get them elected. Stand up and put Imus back on the air. In closing, last week John Kerry showed me a part of himself that I did not know,,,,,loyalty,,,,,I never supported Kerry before but I would now.....A real man stands up for his friends when they need it,,,,,where are all of you-- maybe a little scared of short of character? People will respect you if you do the right thing!!!! I am ashamed of what has happened here, but most ashamed that everyone who watched and called in every day has not shown the courage to speak out.... where are you? I have a list that I will put in my next writing of the fair weather friends I am talking about. If this turns out to be the raciest/political pressure I understood it to be from last weeks news, some people should lose their positions and jobs..this will come out if true I am sure. Thank you. Glenn Brandon

Ex-NAACP head now on CBS board hopes company will fire Don Imus
The Associated Press
Article Last Updated: 04/11/2007 10:48:51 AM MDT
Posted: 10:37 AM- NEW YORK - Bruce Gordon, former head of the NAACP and a director of CBS Corp., said today the broadcasting company needs a "zero tolerance policy" on racism and hopes talk-show host Don Imus is fired for his demeaning remarks about the mostly black Rutgers women's basketball team.
"He's crossed the line, he's violated our community," Gordon said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "He needs to face the consequence of that violation."
Gordon, a longtime telecommunications executive, stepped down in March after 19 months as head of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, one of the foremost U.S. civil rights organizations.
He said he had spoken with CBS chief executive Leslie Moonves and hoped the company, after reviewing the situation, would "make the smart decision" by firing Imus rather than letting him return to the air at the end of a two-week suspension beginning next Monday.
"We should have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to what I see as irresponsible, racist behavior," Gordon said. "The Imus comments go beyond humor. Maybe he thought it was funny, but that's not what occurred. There has to be a consequence for that behavior."
Imus triggered the uproar on his April 4 show, when he referred to the Rutgers players as "nappy-headed hos." His comments have been widely

U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) says Don Imus shouldn’t have been fired, adding he would be willing to appear on a future Imus show as long as it wasn’t "the same-old, same-old."

In closing, last week John Kerry showed me a part of himself that I did not know,,,,,loyalty,,,,,I never supported Kerry before but I would now…..A real man stands up for his friends when they need it,,,,,where are all of you– maybe a little scared of short of character? I am ashamed of what has happened here, but most ashamed that everyone who watched and called in every day has not shown the courage to speak out…. where are you? I have a list that I will put in my next writing of the fair weather friends I am talking about. If this turns out to be the raciest/political pressure I understood it to be from last weeks news, some people should lose their positions and jobs..this will come out if true I am sure.
<blockquote><i>…all the liberals up in arms …Hedley </i></blockquote>
The point is there is no excuse for racism from anyone, even media bigshots, while to Republicans, if a Republican is a bigot, that's fine as long as he's a good Party man.
<blockquote><i>…. Limbaugh was forced off the air for comments that weren't racist at all… Jay </i></blockquote>
Here is <a href="http://www.adversity.net/special/rush_limbaugh.htm" rel="nofollow">Rush's statement</a>
<i>"I don't think he's been that good from the get-go. I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They're interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there's a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."</i>

<i>What's amusing is that here you have all the liberals up in arms and meanwhile just this morning Imus and Bill Maher were bashing Bush and the administration.

</i>

Your point is moot dude. Its really not that hard for a right of center commentator and an avowed libertarian to bash GWB especially when the President is saddled with a 30+ percent approval rating, is tied to a failing war and mired in adminstration scandal after scandal. (Walter Reed, Attorney Purge etc)

Jay what can I say, agree to disagree .....I believe Rush's original comments were not made to bash the media but were made with racial overtones to perpetuate the myth of white male victimhood that Rush champions on a daily basis.

Even though I am a diehard Eagles Fan, I am still lukewarm about McNabb (too many weak performances in big games); that said though I still think he is one of the Top 5 QB's in the league

Jay what can I say, agree to disagree …..I believe Rush’s original comments were not made to bash the media but were made with racial overtones to perpetuate the myth of white male victimhood that Rush champions on a daily basis.

Even though I am a diehard Eagles Fan, I am still lukewarm about McNabb (too many weak performances in big games); that said though I still think he is one of the Top 5 QB’s in the league

The big difference between Savage's show and Imus', among other things, are the demographics reached. That's why Imus could compete in markets with Stern (before Sirius) because while he doesn't come close to Stern's numbers, he has higher (read wealthier) demographics which advertisers love. To Imus's credit, his demographics are the result of transfoming his show a while back to something that at time is more than the morning zoo.

What's amusing is that here you have all the liberals up in arms and meanwhile just this morning Imus and Bill Maher were bashing Bush and the administration.
