Taking A Stand Vs. Evolution Deniers

The scene of the crime is Southern Methodist U.

Intelligent design has a fundamental problem: Its proponents refuse to understand who and what they are. Hence, they have created an awkward situation for Southern Methodist University, where a conference called “Darwin vs. Design” is scheduled for McFarlin Auditorium on April 13 and 14. Some scientists at the university have questioned, justifiably, whether this is an appropriate place for a gathering as intellectually confused as this one.

Those who favor intelligent design seek to prove that evolution is impossible because the complexity of human systems is beyond the capacity of the Darwinian process to accomplish. Hence, humankind must have been created by a supreme designer.

Yet they have not toppled Darwin or his theory – and show no signs of coming close to that.

Their mistake is presenting themselves as a science and Charles Darwin as their natural enemy when, in fact, they are arguing from a religious base.

when are we going to start taxing the churches for fucking up humanity’s base intelligence level?

if anything, there’s surely a large class action lawsuit just waiting to be filed in a federal court by ex-churchgoers. churchly propaganda throughout recorded history has caused mass misery. religions cause these problems by promoting a complete lack of reason, and this results in broad societal prejudices for one another. damn near every single conflict throughout history has had some sort of religious connotation attached. i think it’s time religion starts to pay the piper. even the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer could see that religion sucks.

bring back the church tax!

let us discuss facts not assumptions! is god a fact? personally, i feel there is more evidence for the proof that UFOs exist than there is of a one true god who rules the universe with benign or malevolent intents.

closer to home, our environment here on earth is dying, and i have no faith that the gods people worship & devote their lives to are going to offer much if any assistance. if earth dies, we die. until we colonize another planet it’s end of story for the humans. now THAT’S intelligent design!~

are we intelligent enough to use science to get to another planet before we fuck up the planet we’re already on?

I don’t think god cares enough about humans to make sure we all have an opportunity to get into a nice heavenly retirement with all the promised bells & whistles. It will be a self-made catastrophe that will wipe us off the planet. There will be no divine intervention that will later deliver a soul to a happy place. You will be dead. Period over. The real revelation may just be that you don’t get to go to heaven or hell because there is no afterlife when you are dead.

Faith is whatever you believe to be true. The Truth simply Is.

Organized religion is a creation of Man, not God. If people want to worship the unknowable it’s fine with me, but when they start declaring that God tells them to deny scientific truths is when I say they are crazy fools. I don’t care whose parade gets rained on, if it’s raining it’s raining and denying it won’t make the sun shine. Pray to your sky fairy if you want it to stop raining; surely he’ll stop it for you.

Was not science created by men? If want to treat the Scientific Method like the Ten Commandments, that’s fine with me.

But if you’re going to tell me that a person’s faith is some kind of pipe dream, you better be sure that Science knows everything, has never been mistaken, and has never been responsible for any human misery.
