I can read whatever you feel like copy-pasting, Dugger, but you fail at every opportunity to explain how McCain’s visit to Baghdad exemplifies the same sort of bravery he displayed in Vietnam.

This was the paradox-so many guys were so mistreated to get them to say they were grateful. But this is the Communist way.

I held out for four days. Finally, I reached the lowest point of my 51/2 years in North Vietnam. I was at the point of suicide, because I saw that I was reaching the end of my rope.”

Sure, but courage is not an all-encompassing trait that stays with you based on the bravery of one, or even multiple actions. It must be renewed at every situation.

A firefighter can run into burning buildings to save women and children and for those acts he is brave. That same firefighter can refuse to support a woman he accidentally got pregnant and for that he deserves to be called a coward.

McCain served his country with courage in the war. I’m not denying that.

But he behaved with either ignorance or cowardice during this most recent Baghdad market stunt; and if it was the former, he should show enough courage to admit it.

Regardless, your logic remains flawed and you still haven’t explained how criticizing McCain proves that progressives hate the military.

No. It isn’t. If I challenged his courage during that war, then you’d have me over a barrel. His courage is being challenged in terms of him “walking the safe streets of Baghdad.”

He has two options, neither of which are good ones–either he was wrong when he said the streets were safe, or he was a coward to walk a safe street with a full military guard. And this is a situation of his own devising.

Now personally I believe its the former, but ironically, McCain seems to lack the courage to admit he might have been wrong.

So either he’s brave for walking a dangerous street but was therefore completely wrong when he said the streets were safe, or he’s a coward for walking a perfectly safe street with a full military bodyguard.

Nobody is challenging McCain’s courage. They are challenging his ridiculous claims that it is possible for Westerners to walk anywhere in Baghdad. They are pointing out that there was a batalion
that accompanied him on his friendly neighborhood stroll. That ain’t Straight Talk by anybody’s definition.

If that’s the case, then conservatives who criticized John Murtha also hate the military.
