Andrew Roberts, Bush’s Crackpot Historian

I saw this guy on C-SPAN a few weeks ago, and his crackpot theories of the world are exactly the sort you would expect to be championed by an intellectual midget like George W. Bush.

Not even the image of Kiele Sanchez as a gun toting stripper can save this show now. Like every episode this season – new questions are piled on, absolutely nothing is answered. And still too long until the next Heroes.

The Politico / Matt Drudge Nexus Misfires Again

4:51 am EST March 29th, 2007 | Media | 7 Comments

My colleagues at Media Matters documented Wednesday the curious synchronicty with which Politico stories are pushed on Matt Drudge’s website… even before the story is published. It’s as if someone over there is working hand-in-hand with Drudge to push these stories. The problem is, The Politico’s stories are proving so inaccurate that they must be rushing them to Drudge without getting the factcheckers to look at them.

Today’s example is this story by Ben Smith (the same guy who got the Edwards story very wrong) saying that Jesse Jackson would vote for Barack Obama. The problem is, as Smith was pushed to concede, that Jackson already put out this news… a month ago.

The Politico does it again…

McCain Planned To Leave The Republican Party

Oh man, stick a fork in St. McCain. You just don’t go anywhere in getting your party’s nomination if people find out you planned to leave.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) was close to leaving the Republican Party in 2001, weeks before then-Sen. Jim Jeffords (Vt.) famously announced his decision to become an Independent, according to former Democratic lawmakers who say they were involved in the discussions.

In interviews with The Hill this month, former Sen. Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) and ex-Rep. Tom Downey (D-N.Y.) said there were nearly two months of talks with the maverick lawmaker following an approach by John Weaver, McCain’s chief political strategist.

That’s “Quaint”*

I actually agree with his conclusion here, but I know I’m not the only one who thinks it’s hilarious that Bush administration apologist and cheerleader Hugh Hewitt has all of a sudden rediscovered The Geneva Conventions.

* (While Alberto Gonzales served as White House counsel he called the Geneva Conventions "quaint" in a document that eventually helped justify the torture at Abu Ghraib)

More Con Threats Vs. Democrats

Conservative blogger Dan Riehl:

Both Pelosi and Reid should be charged, tried by military tribunal and, if convicted, publicly hung.

What’s funny is that right after that he makes up a liberal cause for some horrible behavior. Projection?

It isn’t every day I write about Jamaican hip hop girl groups. Today is that day. This has been our plan all along. First they planted the nerds like me, then they bring on the heavy guns.
