locus: I was merely looking for a source that would satisfy you, since you seem to have doubts about the ability of CBN to print news.

Personally, I'm looking forward to animals that get 60 miles to the gallon.

Frank,

Thanks for looking after my back, but I'm comfortable enough with my own knowledge of science to realize that scientists have been doing this for years. Or did you not read my earlier comment?

I just realized you used a link from the CBN.

Do you really want to get your science news from the 700 Club?

Please.

You're joking right?

Scientists have been splicing parts of the human genome into laboratory animals for years. One of my friends is a MD/PhD. His PhD thesis (defended in the mid-90's) was the creation of a strain of lab mice with human cholesterol disorder. Not just a mouse with the target gene for high cholesterol turned on; but a mouse with the actual human genes for high cholesterol spliced in. His animal model became a nifty way to study cholesterol-lowering drugs before introducing them in a full-blown clinical trial.

The arrival of hybridized animals was long ago.
