Good work Oliver. Here is a link to a recent work which had global warming confusionists all excited. I call it a 'work' not an article, since it wasn't a peer-reviewed. It fact, it wasn't an article either. It was a poster by Dr. Abdussamatov from a conference! Wow, with one whole equation!
http://journals.cambridge.org/download.php?file=%2FIAU%2FIAU2004_IAUS223%2FS1743921304006775a.pdf&code=1a0a96ad122a5136a8274c4fdfabca59
Here is a analysis of the confused claims by an astronomy professor -
http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2005/10/global-warming-on-mars/
And if the source of the false rumor is more recent information, try this -
Mars Warming Due to Dust Storms, Study Finds
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/04/070404-mars-warming.html
Finally, for those who need a reminder that solar ouput hasn't changed significantly in the last 29 years (not enough to explain our rising temps) see the conclusions of most recent review paper-
http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v443/n7108/abs/nature05072.html

What's more American than cars, right? Like Rex said, mom, apple pie, and Jesus..or Chevy, take your pick. I'm sure many Chevys have a plastic Jesus on the dash. It's a two-fer! Lefties hate America, so they want to ban cars AND dashboard Jesus (secular bastards!), not improve the quality of life for everyone and possibly everything across the entire globe through the progressive infusion of far cleaner and more efficient technologies that would not only help clean our air, reduce CO2, create new industries to replace or possibly re-invigorate Detroit, drastically reduce the need for oil and gas, and more...whew...

No, it's the express train to Luddite-ania, all aboard. Damn commie hippies.

Science has clearly gotten it wrong, the Neanderthals have not, in fact, died out.

That, or the U.S. needs to start looking for a continental gas leak.

I read that as "completely eliminating the internal combustion engine" in favor of something else, more efficient and better. Do you really...really think Al Gore wants to take your car away?

Really? Cripes, man. settle down.

eliminating the internal combustion engine over, say, a twenty-five-year period

...you read that and heard him as saying that he wants to ban all transit of any kind, didnt you? No alternative engines, no hybrids, no electric, no nothing. He wants to eliminate the I-C Engine as we know it today, and therefore he's opposed to transit. Oh, probably also Travel, and Buses, and industry. Also Mom, Apple Pie, Jesus and Santa and you personally. Against all of it.

duros,

Who said dat?

Why the world's leading global warming catastrophe monger:

"We now know that their cumulative impact on the global environment is posing a mortal threat to the security of every nation that is more deadly than that of any military enemy are ever again likely to confront.

...it ought to be possible to establish a coordinated global program to accomplish the strategic goal of completely eliminating the internal combustion engine over, say, a twenty-five-year period"

Get rid of all autos!

Who ever said that? Why do you keep talking like that, like there will be some sort of pogrom on cars?
It would be better if the cars we have were more efficient, that's all.

So...you're saying that there are at MOST 57 "scientists" in the world?

Where did you get that idea?

I don't how many climatologists there are, but I do know that they are not in unanimous agreement about CO2 caused global warming. Some, and again I don't know how many, are saying that it is the sun that is contributing to global warming -- to a greater degree than CO2.

I was suggesting that Wilbur check and see if the "vast majority" of scientists believe in CO2 - generated global warming.

Wilbur

You have really kicked some impressive strawman butt.

Again, the issue is how much of the current small spike increase is manmade and how much is not. And whether its temporary or permanent. Global warming enthusiasts say permanent and all or almost all is manmade. Doubters ask why this little spike can't be another of the many historical spikes in warming - having almost nothing to do with CO2 or human factors.

The Mars question is very valid in this context. The sun is getting hotter. Earth warms a little. Mars warms a little. Hmmmm. Nope, better move along. That science is settled. Spread the soot on the ice caps. No. Sorry. That was the earlier settled science per Newsweek and Time. Get rid of all autos!

In fact, call when a vast majority of scientists believe it's actually occurring.

So...you're saying that there are at MOST 57 "scientists" in the world?

And even IF the majority of people didn't believe it (which could only be argued if non-americans weren't counted as "people"), over half of people believe that astrology is an actual science. That doesn't make them right.

Groundhog day again.

Once more, stop talking about Mars or any other planet as if any of it has any bearing on the current push to curb man made contributions to climate change on Earth. That ship sailed years ago.

Sorry tyfoc, but climate change is indeed valid , testable, science.

If the Globalwarmians were unassaillably correct, there would far more people believing them -- and I don't mean the birkenstock bunch.

From ABC News, where Drudge rules their world:

"A vast majority, 85 percent, believes global warming probably is occurring...

In 1998, 31 percent called global warming extremely or very important to them personally. Today that's sharply higher, 49 percent, with an additional three in 10 calling it "somewhat" important."

Wow, better buy some stock in Birkenstock.

And neither five nor three
The heart of man has long been sore
And long tis wont to be.

Jadegold: How can one refute a prediction? With a Time Machine?

If the Globalwarmians were unassaillably correct, there would far more people believing them -- and I don't mean the birkenstock bunch.

Yup. Tyfoc is a Denier.

Note Feynman's "cargo cult" speech was aimed at social vice empirical sciences. Social science metrics are difficult to develop and accurately measure. Modeling in the social sciences is virtually impossible.

OTOH, there is no shortage of data WRT climate change and we can model climate variances with a fairly good degree of fidelity.

The fact remains no global warming skeptic or denier can refute the existing evidence. So, when you see Inhofe holding up a picture of icicles and saying 'Where's the global warming?'--it's really the best the deniers can do from a 'scientific' perpective.

I thought dissent was the highest form of patriotism.

I made a similar point a few weeks ago. All you lefties act like wannabe cynics and skeptics when it comes to anything Republican, or anything to do with the military.

I think the reason you guys have fallen for this global warming stuff is because inside every liberal there's a Luddite.
