A Note On Comments On OliverWillis.com

1. To put this delicately: there is no need to issue a response to every troll attempt. My site, for whatever reason (I think it’s because I’m pretty combative) attracts a lot of wingnuts. Some of them just have a different view of the world and argue it honestly, while others are just trolls who get jollies out of posting the most nonsensical unrelated stuff and starting a flame war. I unbanned everyone a while back because frankly I prefer for them to make their idiot ravings in public. But this doesn’t mean that you’ve gotta answer them all the time. Just ignore them, please.

2. If you’re going to put a link in the comments please do it in the form:
<a href=”http://www.foo.com”>Link</a>
Otherwise it just breaks the page

3. Also, if you don’t know what you’re doing with bolds and blockquotes, don’t use them. I hate taking time out from my leisurely strolls with Jessica Alba to fix your HTML.

Anything that promotes more face time for you with La Alba is obviously a good thing!

  4. Yes. Everyone be troll deniers.

Oliver — Love the redesign, very professional.

Is there any way comments could be in a slightly bigger font size? I’m going blind trying just to read what the trolls have to say.

I would also like to petition for a Back to Top link. Somewhere.

  8. SpiderJ says:

Or, Adam, CTRL plus the scroll wheel on your mouse, if you have one.

I second the “Back to Top” link.

  9. Back to top of the comments, or to the top of the entry?

  10. Also, does everyone get the captcha (enter the numbers thing) every time you comment?

  11. SpiderJ says:

Top of the entry, I’d guess.

I only get the captcha once in awhile, seemingly at random.

    Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
Mostly if I link something outside.
    All day yesterday, tho..

Not all the time. If I post within a minute of having done it before, and on occasions it just asks at random.
