Let me see if I’ve got this right:

Who hates The Gay? Republicans and Achmedinajad. (Of course Republicans really like The Gay if The Gay is rich, powerful, active in politics, or can win votes.)

Who wants to shove their religion down your throat — Republicans and Achmedinajad. (… Congress shall make no respecting an …)

Who has hatred and distrust of everyone outside their religion — Republicans and Achmedinajad.

Who is developing weapons of mass destruction to secure their country — Iran. (America already has more weapons of mass destruction than the rest of the planet combined.) Who is planning to modernize the largest nuclear weapons inventory on the planet? America!

Who sold weapons of mass destruction to Iraq? America! (Under Reagan and Bush I.)

Who used the WMDs they sold Iraq as justification for a war — The Republican administration!

Why does Iran hate us? Because we overthrew their government in 1953. How long will they hate us? How long have the decendents of Mohammed hated each other?

Like John Dean says, when people on the right today say the pledge of allegiance, they clearly believe that “with liberty and justice for ALL” doesn’t apply to gays, muslims, Arabs, non-Christians, or anyone else who doesn’t believe what they believe.

Today’s Republicans are NOT conservatives.

Why are we in Iraq? To pump a trillion dollars into the economy — it doesn’t matter to them how many Americans die — a strong economy is worth any quantity of death and suffering.

Result of being in Iraq: A million dead human beings.

So… Your God sanctions the murder of a million human beings created in his own image…

My God does not!

Sometimes, all this kerfuffle reminds me of reading things by Hilaire Belloc (and, to a lesser extent, G.K. Chesterton) about Jews. To someone born in the second half of the XX Century, it takes me by surprise to read otherwise thoughtful, sensible and funny people (see above) writing what to my sensibilities are the most heinous and appalling things about Jews and Judaism. For obvious reasons, ‘genteel’ anti-Semitism is now a non sequitur. Around 1900, in cultured English circles, it was almost de rigeur.

I look forward to my sons telling _their_ sons some variation of ‘in fact, when Grandad and Pop adopted us, they actually _couldn’t_ legally get married – and it was years until they could get married in California.’ And the grandkids will say whatever version of ‘nuhUH!’ is fashionable at the time.

And Frank’s opinions on things will be as relevant as Westbrook Pegler.

Let’s not misconstrue anything the man says, then. Both he and Pace are opposed to “homosexual acts,” which they consider “immoral.” Somehow this viewpoint is exclusive, and does not in any way imply that they think homosexuals are “immoral” beings–they just have “immoral” thoughts and “immoral” urges that cause them to do “immoral” things.

But they love you gay people! They just wish you weren’t so, well, GAY is all.
