This is rich.
White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove alleged Thursday that Democrats are “playing politics” with the controversy surrounding the firing of eight U.S. attorneys.
That’s right, homegamers. Karl Freaking Rove is complaining about Democrats playing politics.
The guy that said “Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.” is complaining about politics.
I would tell him to go eff himself, but that’s much too tepid.
Oh, for… I thought it was 93 US A’s. Now it’s 123?
And again, at the beginning of his term! Not 1/2 way through his 2nd term.
Jesus, the man is named in the disgraced asst. AG’s e-mails as having a personal interest in the firing of these specific attorneys, and he has the gall to pull this sanctimonious crap?
In Greek mythology hubris like that always meets its comeuppance. If only it were so in the real world.
And now, new e-mail evidence shows that unca Karl was in on the purge earlier than we thought — the white house caught in another lie.
I’d like to think there comes a point when people say enough is enough.
Wilbur: Enough is enough of people like you saying “Enough is enough.” Enough, already.
“Purge” was completely legal and within Pres discretion. And by George, this is a wonderful quote, since OW brought it up:
“Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.”
Patty Murray was even complimenting UBLCo (Tm Dugger) for all the daycare and stuff he did. Aww, he just needed to get in touch with his inner child! Maybe he too is a victim of BushCo and just needs a big ol’ gooey progressive hug!
Notice how it stuck in Ollie’s craw? Musta nailed it.

“Notice how it stuck in Ollie’s craw? Musta nailed it.”
Like your deafening, jaw dropping silence following the midterm elections?
Rove didn’t say “Patty Murray,” he said “liberals.”
Hyperbolic statements such as Rove’s, which Dugger seems insistent on standing up for, go completely against reason. It scores a few nice political points to say that “liberals want al-Qaida to destroy America,” but it infers that liberals would rather be dead or under Islamic fundamentalist control–which, if at all true, would be easier accomplished by liberals committing mass suicide or moving to Saudi Arabia.
It’s a bullshit premise. Liberals have families and friends and no desire to see them dead at the hands of anybody. Liberals are not de facto opposed to security and defense. That’s a lunatic premise, but it’s one that conservatives enjoy trotting out now and again as “Truth.”
I know I would have preferred for security and defense to be in smarter hands than have currently been in control. Bush rattles the saber very well, but when time comes to use it he’s been outclassed as a swordsman.
Spider,
That was wonderful. You took Rove’s quote, which evidently was too masterful for you to debate, and substituted a poor-poor-pity- me thing you made up and ran with it – portraying liberals as victims. Stick to what Rove said if you want to debate Rove’s quote. The piteous inferences you draw from said quote don’t count.
So to accuse me of “not debating Rove’s quote” you completely mischaracterize mine. Irony abounds, but I’ll be plainer with you if you need it.
“…liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.”
I’m a liberal. I had no desire to offer therapy and understanding for our attackers. I’m not the only liberal who supported taking out the Taliban and al-Qaida. Rove’s ad hominem hyperbole is false on its face, but its simplistic premise is exactly what makes it good theater for the conservative base. He cannot prove that a majority of liberals, or even a significant number of them, were calling out “Therapy! Therapy and Understanding for al-Qaida!”
It’s bullshit, and you’re full of the same for supporting such rhetoric.
“Purge” was completely legal
…and completely unethical.
Fuggedaboudit, Wilbur. “Ethics” are for pussies.
Dugger, serious question: why do you think being actively and demonstrably stupid is a good debating tactic?
Serious question.
Spider
However, calling yourself a liberal and then stating you didn’t call for therapy etc doesn’t actually squash the point. I notice you didn’t question the ‘indictments’ part of the Rove quote. Labor (Australia) in Feb (2007) is calling for terrorist therapy.
Therefore, all liberals support “terrorist therapy.”
Therefore, liberals want Americans to die.
Sure, I get it now.
BTW, Valerie was covert after all.
Pedrugger, do you wanna suck it now or suck it later?
Oh, fer chrissakes. No, I’m not going to argue against indictments for terrorists. Because that’s nonsensical.
Why do you, Dugger, have a problem with indictments? If we catch terrorists, we should indict them and try them according to our rule of law, shouldn’t we? In fact, we did just that, and I didn’t hear conservatives complaining to the high heavens about how the stinking liberals dared sentence the guilty party to life in a SuperMax prison.
I’m not “calling myself” a liberal, I am a liberal. And you talk about squashing the larger point as if Rove had a point in the first place. He had none. He backed up his statements not a whit.
Alberto is holding a press conference.
you talk about squashing the larger point as if Rove had a point in the first place. He had none. He backed up his statements not a whit.
Karl Rove (in Mr. Burns’ voice): My cunning plan is working. Mwahahahaha.
That’s not fair. Gonzo was weird and naive, but he was always honest.
Well, is there a Bizarro Gonzo?
Is there a non-Bizarro Gonzo?
Spider,

Let’s do a little role reversal (this doesn’t usually help, since ultra-cons like Duggie here don’t have a developed sense of empathy, but let’s give it a shot).
*Ahem*
Dugger is obviously a vile slug who’s only drive to live is to see everyone who’s not a rich, old, white male suffer. He donates money to orgainzatoins such as the KKK, the IRA, and NAMBLA (”Those stupid little fucks need to learn their place” -Dugger). He is the president a hunting club that specializes in hunting homosexuals. He regularly beats not only his own wife, but other people’s wives as well. He uses the Abu Ghraib photos for porn (”Why the hell would I look at a naked bitch for pleasure? Those skanks should be shot” -Dugger).
Don’t like it? The prove that you aren’t all those things.
See? It’s not fun when the shoe’s on the other foot.
“Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and saw a way to pay off their corporate sponsors while seizing more power; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and didn’t lose sight of the founding principles of this nation.”
That’s what Karl Rove should have said.
