The gang at Olbermannwatch has apparently given up in the face of Olbermann’s increasing ratings.

Hype Olbermann’s increase all you want, but he’s still getting his clock cleaned on a nightly basis by Bill O’Reilly and, on most recently, Nancy Grace.
O’Reilly averages about 2.4M viewers to Olbermann’s 700K. In football terms, that’s the difference between the San Diego Chargers & the Cleveland Browns.
right-wingers are hilarious and scary at the same time…
Did I say he was beating O’Reilly? Have I ever? Are his ratings up? Are they growing faster than O’Reilly? (Like how O’Reilly outgrew Larry King)
SaveFarris, Olbermann is not getting his clock cleaned by Grace. Check out TVNewser.com for last night’s ratings, if you’d like.
Also, O’Reilly caters to an older audience. Olbermann’s ratings are way up over 2006 in the young demographic, and are now 200k/night behind O’Reilly’s. That means more advertising dollars per viewer for Olbermann than for O’Reilly.
So if you want to cherry-pick ratings to suit your anti-Olbermann agenda that’s fine, but there is a reason Olbermann just got renewed for millions: He’s getting excellent ratings.
“We wish all of you the best over the next four, painful years.”
How will America survive when we have someone like Keith Olbermann anchoring one news hour on one news channel… wow this whols forcing-yourself-not-to-laugh thing is harder than it seems.
dude, I wouldn’t even let Nancy Grace clean my clock. No, literally, keep your mitts off my clock, ya hack.
“We wish all of you the best over the next four, painful years.”
Wait, he can still choose not to watch, right? Therein lies the difference with the “pain” Cox must endure and the pain the rest of us have had to bear for the last 4 years. And the 2 before that.
Are they growing faster than O’Reilly?
Hahaha…That’s easy to do when you have so few viewers like Olbermann. A few thousand more people who watch that tripe makes his ratings spike.
I think I’ve watched a total of 2 minutes and 13 second of Olby.
And that’s because I couldn’t find my remote and just happened to have to skip through MSNBC which changing channels.
Jay, I said the same thing a few years ago about O’Reilly when he was getting killed by Larry King…
I’m sick of this sentiment… that your television ratings somehow reveal something about the reasonableness of your positions, and whether mainstream America agrees with you. O’Reilly talks shit about other networks’ ratings all the time, and shouts his own ratings to the heavens as some sort of indicator that the American people agree with him.
They don’t.
What you have here are self-selected participants in watching The Factor. Perhaps these people are more likely television viewers than those who might tune in to a show like Olbermann’s. O’Reilly’s viewers might flock to his show because it’s a place where their unpopular opinions are given undue, supposedly serious consideration. Perhaps the simple fact is that people are taken in by the vitriol, and feed on it. After all, people tend to slow down to get a real-good look at car wrecks.
Actually, I don’t watch O’Reilly either. In fact, the only news shows I will watch now is C-Span and The Newshour. Sometimes I’ll thrown on The McLaughlin Group for a little fun, but that’s about it.
Jay, I wasn’t meaning to imply that you did. I was just remarking on the pervasity of this particular phenomenon.
‘Are they growing faster than O’Reilly?
Well, it is true when you go from 2 to 4, it is a 100% increase and I doubt O’Reilly can claim that.
Is Olbermann still doing that Nazi thing?
Is Olbermann still doing that Nazi thing?
Does O’Reilly diddle little boys?

Countdown with Keith Olbermann
MSNBC

Dear Mr. Olbermann,
We are deeply dismayed by your ongoing use of the Nazi “Sieg Heil” salute, both on your program and in public appearances — including the recent Television Critics Association press tour — while holding up a mask of Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly.
While we understand that your aim is to entertain your audience by taking pot shots at Mr. O’Reilly, your repeated use of the Nazi salute has resulted in many complaints from our constituents, including Holocaust survivors and their families who find the use of this gesture offensive and repugnant in any context.
The Nazi salute is more than just a remnant of history, but serves as a calling card for modern-day neo-Nazis and white supremacists. We believe that the use of gestures and imagery associated with the Nazis – even in jest – only serves to trivialize the Holocaust and denigrate the memory of the six million Jews and others who died as a result of Hitler’s Final Solution.
As a respected and well-known media personality, your actions have consequences and can set a standard for others to emulate. We are especially concerned that young people viewing your program might take their cues from your free use of the “Sieg Heil” salute.
In light of these concerns, we hope that you will reconsider your use of the Nazi salute in the future.
Sincerely,
The Anti-Defamation League
