A note to redstaters. It’s really hard for us coastal liberal elites to not caricature you as knuckle-dragging drooling morons when you act like knuckle-dragging drooling morons.

Apparently, you’re not aware of what is called selective editing.
Apparently you’re not aware of what is called undeniable things these people just said which don’t require context to understand them, hence their inclusion.

“Your Honor, I think it’s totally unfair the way the prosecution isn’t addressing all the banks in the city I didn’t rob.”

Considering this is a comedy show, and the way it was presented its very easy to see how they edited and cut answers with different questions. You’ll notice that when they had the guy talking about “the rope and the tree” the ‘question’ was voiced over, so it’s very likely the guy was really asking him some other kind of question where that was the response. It’s a technique that is used quite often with comedy bits.
I guess you believe the Coors Light commercials with former Colts head coach Jim Mora were real too.
Cripes.
I get how it’s done, thank you, I’ve seen Chris Morris’ programmes. You’re still being evasive.
I’m not being evasive. You’re being obtuse. It’s only a matter of whether you’re being purposely obtuse or not.
Look it up in a dictionary, that might help.
Well, Jay, what is the story?
Muslims are building a community center and the guy nextdoor is running pig races and vowing to surround them with pigs. What is the context?
Jay “I just thought it would be a friendly gesture if I helped my new black neighbors out by lighting their lawns with burning crosses! We don’t want them to accidently trip and slip their necks into those nooses we hung.”
Midderpidge, in case you haven’t realized, this appeared on COMEDY CENTRAL. It is very likely that everything is not exactly as they presented it (though the overall story is essentially true) though what is left out is that Baker only started the pig races when the organization building the mosque ask him to leave his property despite it being in his family for close to 200 years.
And it seems you’re ignorant enough to believe that pig races would be offensive to Muslims. It’s not. They don’t eat pork, but they don’t hate pigs.
The point is, they took a dispute and for comedic purposes, blew it way out of proportion and you people are acting like it’s a legitimate investigative story.
You are right not everything is as they presented. However, in protest of having muslims building a community center and mosque nextdoor, a man is running weekly pig races on the muslim holy day.
You demonstrate your ignorance with the weak argument that it isn’t offensive to muslims because the intent clearly is to be religiously offensive.
Next point, Jay, the Association did not ask the farmer to leave his land, they asked him to remove his cattle from their land so they could begin construction.
The comedy central treatment did not cover the anti-Islamic website set up by someone in the community, and probably some of the other aspects like the neighbor that came to apologize for the bad welcome.
“Apparently, you’re not aware of what is called selective editing.”
The guy said he wanted to lynch these Muslims. There was clearly no editing there, so why are you defending it?

I give up….
“Get a rope. Find a good tree. There you go.”
What question can lead to that answer that makes the statement not horribly offensive?
“How did you go about making that swing all the kids are enjoying?”
As an aside, I am Jewish, and I don’t eat pigs, and I respect the Muslims of Katy’s beliefs so none of this is about that.
Just saying that I have been to a pig race, and it was a lot of fun. Very cute.
I will say this is not quite as was reported months ago when the local Muslims reportedly approved of the pig racing, and were like, “pig racing, wtf, are we supposed to be upset?” I don’t know which is more accurate.
I think that Jay’s hypocritical indignation is teh funnay!
Not to burst any right wing balloons, but to grossly distort someone’s words, even for satire, would be grounds for a major lawsuit. Somehow I doubt a show predicated upon making people look foolish would skimp on the budget for legal review.
And then the moron said that calling him a racist would be inaccurate but calling him a BIGOT would be accurate.
There MILLIONS of whites in this country that truly, and I mean TRULY believe in their heart that only white “christians” are “real” Americans.
There are millions that believe that America is a “christian” nation and all other religions not only should be tolerated but are straight evil.
So combine the fact that these new neighbors are not only non-white but non-”christian” as well. And not just that, but MUSLIM! The flames of hatred become and inferno.
And I guarantee you that every single violent hate-monger in that piece identifies himself as a “christian” aka a follower of Christ. Hmmmmm…who would Jesus lynch?
“I give up….”
I wish this meant you finally realized that you were defending in indefensible. But I have a funny feeling if you were to find this debate on another site you’d use the exact same arguments over there.
Starkyluv, when that guy called himself a bigot instead of a racist, he was probably right.
racism: : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.
bigot:a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance.
you can be a racist and not hate, just like you can be a bigot and not believe your race is better than someone else’s.
hmmm, i wonder if that means liberals are indeed, racist? they do seem to celebrate that other races are inferior and need our help…….
“hmmm, i wonder if that means liberals are indeed, racist? they do seem to celebrate that other races are inferior and need our help…….”
Christ. Could you change your handle, I don’t want people associating stupidity like your with Canada.
On a side note, do a little research on ‘black’ sounding names and call back rates. You don’t have to be racist to know there are racist people out there.
