cool video. thanks for posting that.
I heard there was between 20 to 22,000 people there.
I was at the Announcement in Springfield. Got up at 4 am and my husband and i left around 6 in -2 degrees. Drove 3 hours to stand in freezing cold and heard him with 17,000 of our closet friends.
Do you know if other candidates get that many people? What are the numbers for others?
I think he gets tons more. But, Obama is just such a force of nature.
? for president?
I just hope nobody shoots him.
I haven’t seen that many people at Auditorium Shores since that free Echo and the Bunnymen concert. If Senator Obama sang “Lips Like Sugar,” that would have been the icing on the cake.
Hooray People’s Republic of Austin!
“I think he has what we need right now”
LISTEN TO YOUR GRANDMOTHER.
Gee, I wonder why Oliver likes Obama so much .. hmm..
Ian, what are you insinuating?
Well I like Sen Clinton and Sen. Edwards as well, and that’s clearly because I’m wh–
Oh, wait.
Gee, I wonder why Oliver likes Obama so much .. hmm..
Probably because Obama is an intelligent, charismatic man of integrity and vision.
Those are characteristics that Republicans tend to avoid in their candidates, so it may be hard for Ian to understand.
The first time I saw Obama on TV I knew he was the most charismatic politician of the cycle, and charisma can’t be underestimated in the TV age.
On top of that he’s intelligent and no more vulnerable to personal smears than any other Democrat, he was already against the war, what’s not to like?
My only quibble is that he doesn’t have Bill Clinton’s leadership skills, although on speaking and charisma Obama is the closest we’ll see to the Big Dog.
Barack is the kind of guy who could grow into the job and be great at it. Hillary isn’t.
I’ll give you eight to five Barack is president two years from today, and Edwards will be veep.
Ian, thanks for publicly printing what I’ve heard other racists like you just say privately, when there are no black people in the room. It takes a certain amount of idiocy to say, nevertheless type, something like that.
I’d love to have more out-of-the-closet racists like you in the public sphere of debate. It will just help prove the Democrats’ point that racism is a problem that still needs solving and not an issue of yesteryear. So sign up to be a FOX News contributor, and we all win!
And I agree with Repack’s odds: Barack will most likely be president in 2009. He’s got the charisma and the likability that Dean lacked, but he’s got the guts that Dean proved.
But I think Richardson is still the smart choice for veep. The guy speaks Spanish; he’s experienced; he’s likable. Plus he can help in the Southwest, where Democrats need to shore up support for the future.
Are there any other prez or veep candidates that can do those same things?
the only guy I can think of who got crowds like that was Bill Clinton….in 2004…campaigning for Kerry.
He really is a political superstar. I hope he does well in the first debates. That’s about when he needs to start to get more specific.
You see that raw emotion drawn from that woman at the end? That’s the power of hope. Of unbridled intelligence backed by vision and integrity.
Can you even THINK of a politician that brought people to genuine tears from a speech? And not a speech meant to tug the heart-strings. A speech about hope and love for one another.
It’s this raw, positive energy that Obama brings that will bring out the youth and eviscerate Hillary’s female vote.
If Obama begins to speak clearly and forcefully without equivocation and if the Secret Service can keep him safe, he will be President in 2009.
And to give you an example of the sorry state of America in 2007. Barack Obama is in much more actual danger of violent attack in AMERICA than he is in any other country in the world that is not currently engaged in armed conflict. He’s in more danger from his fellow citizens than he is from anyone else.
“Gee, I wonder why Oliver likes Obama so much .. hmm..”
It’s clearly because Obama is so ‘clean and well spoken’.
He’s in more danger from his fellow citizens than he is from anyone else.
God Bless America.
spot on Starky, spot on.
