If I were a Chargers fan, I’d jump out of a window. As I’ve made clear, I wish nothing but the worst for Norv Turner. Any team that hires him is doomed, even one as talented as San Diego.
Considered by some to be the safe pick to take over the San Diego Chargers, Norv Turner at least is starting in much better position than he did in his previous two NFL head coaching jobs.
Turner was given a four-year contract Monday to take over a team that went an NFL-best 14-2 before melting down in the playoffs and then in the front office.
I’m just sad he’s not going to Dallas.
I’m not sad he’s passing through Dallas on I-20. But I feel sorry for the Chargers.
what, wasn’t rich kotite available?
I don’t feel the least bit sorry for the Chargers. They showed that they are as stupid as sports writers.
They had a pretty good head coach and they fired him because of personality problems that should have been solved in the fourth grade.
Marty is not a perfect head coach, but the loss to the Pats was a close one, not a ‘melt down’ as Bernie Wilson seems to think. Two plays, Parker’s muff and McCree’s fumble, were the difference.
But even if you think that Marty is a good coach with a playoff jinx problem, the key fact is that there were no better head coaches available.
That they hired Norv Effing Turner is pretty clear evidence of that. I don’t have the hate on for Turner like our good friend OW, but Turner has had two cracks at head coach and has not done well.
Wasn’t Norv such a screwup in Washington that they had to bring in Schottenheimer to rebuild?
I hope Norv does well… sort of. I mean, Shottenheimer and the Chargers deserved the win (damn Brady and his awesomeness), but if Norv waltzes in and takes it, it’ll feel undeserved. Plus… his name is Norv… c’mon.
