What is with these guys? There’s got to be one semi-decent comedy writer/performer who’s right of center, but by the product they make in the form of Fox News’ “Red Eye” and now “The Half-Hour News Hour” they cannot write a joke to save their lives.
I almost feel like panhandling and collecting for them.

Well, that was awful. Fundies are too stupid to be funny.
I’m just not sure how many ways I can say this: President Chency got drunk and shot an old man in the face (and the old man apologized). Credit where credit is due, that’s incredibly funny.
Cons are funny to laugh at but it’s not possible to laugh with them. Unless you’re retarded or something.
I just saw a clip of this as I flipped over to the Fox Nothing Channel for the few minutes remaining in the hour after the end of tonight’s excellent FRONTLINE on PBS (part 1 of 3 about the state of current journalism). As they started their comedic hit piece on Obama, one very significant thing stood out to me.
The laugh track.
There is no actual audience laughing at this, it’s all just a canned added audio track. Guess they can’t find enough wingers to fill a studio and obey the “Laugh Now!” signs.
The hosts were so wooden and fake. And, they try way too hard.
Stewart, et. al. make it look easy and effortless. They act like themselves and go off script.
Maybe they should have watched alot of Colbert. He imitates (and lampoons) conservatives so, they could pick up how it’s done for real.
Their problem is you can either be a repressed, reactionary, judgmental, selfish, fear baiting war monger or you can be funny.
Hard to do both. Occasionally you see a talented conservnik who can manage the balancing act, but it usually takes a huge amount of alcohol or oxycontin to keep ‘em going.
I know one conservative comic that is funny: Nick DiPaolo. He is definitely crass and racy but he is funny.
OK then. The overwhelming consensus of progressives is that conservatives aren’t funny. I’ll record that and we can move on.
Heads up everybody. There will be another post tomorrow talking about how conservatives aren’t nice. Be sure and post your personnel anecdote backing this up.
