Conservative Humor

This makes sense to me.
I think possibly this may bring us to the real barrier for conservative comics, and honestly, for some left-wing comedians as well. Staunchly ideological, partisan kind of thinkers are rarely as funny as those who can see both sides of an issue. I don’t always agree with moderates, but they’re more funny. Great satire can be designed to convince an audience, but the best jokes are usually focused solely on being jokes as opposed to expressing a political viewpoint.
Funny is funny, ideology aside, but conservatives too often think repeating their slogans REALLY LOUDLY is a substitute for humor.

Or putting the “TM” superscript after a sarcastic name for somebody. That cracks ‘em up over at Redstate.
I was a little confused at the title of this post, as I thought we had already concluded that such a thing does not exist.
Well, on purpose, at least.
You libs have no idea what you’re talking about. Mallard Fillmore is hands down the funniest, cleverest, most subversive, downright Shavian, Wildeish, and Gallagheresque rolled into one that ever happened.
Mallard Fillmore has no subtlety whatsoever. That’s one of a few factors that turns me off to it. Ditto with “The Leftersons” (why the heck is the Onion running it in their comics section?) As is anything drawn by Chuck Asay.
To be fair, Tom Tomorrow’s been sliding a bit. I mean, it’s dead on with it’s portrayals, but it’s also become quite predictable. But then again, as the political situation in America gets more outrageous, I should expect it.
If I told you a year ago that the phrase “shot an old man in the face” would not only be wildly funny, but would also be as funny a year later, you’d never have believed me. Then if I told you that it was President Cheney who did it, and that he was drunk when it happened, you’d have me locked up for trying to force the funny.
So let’s all stop pretending that right-wingers can’t be funny: A drunken President Cheney shot an old man in the face!
(Oh yeah, and the old man in question *apologized* too. Wacky, wild stuff.)
So you’ve read Mallard Fillmore?
Can’t understand why ya’ll are going through all of this. As duros said, (you think) no conservative, any place is funny. The issue is over for you. This is the metaphorical equivalent of the mob defiling a lynched corpse.
Whatever Dugger. All I’m saying is that if you don’t think a drunken President shooting an old man in the face is T3h Funny, then, well, you just don’t know Funny.
