Wow I Thought I Was A Nerd

But a bunch of cons (one of them is the guy who lied about me earlier in the week) recorded an unfunny soundtrack (their witty observation is that I’m fat, cons can never come up with any actual argument besides that) to one of my video blogs. Really, who has that kind of time or lack of a life?

ALSO: I can take mocking with the best of ‘em, but someone explain to me why conservatives can’t be funny?

I guess just spell my name right, as the kids say.

You know, this seems to be a hot topic this week.

Sadly,No! has quite a bit about it, especially with Michelle Malkin’s Batshit Caa-Razy Theater (also, Crooks & Liars.

One of the commenters made the observation that conservatism and humor are naturally incompatible.

These guys do nothing to dispell that notion.

  2. anuj says:

wow what a bunch of bastards…

  3. Dugger says:

OW. Really now. Seriously. Look out for lightening bolts. Are you actually criticizing somebody else for not coming up with actual arguments? Ustedes? Mr. The Global Warming Debate is Closed. Mr ‘Dear Leader’? etc etc

  4. ed says:

    Great point Dugg-meister.

While Oliver relies on liberal scientists to bolster his arguments, you keep it simple and just baselessly attack with an inspired spin on the classic on “I know you are, but what am I?”.

Excellent job showing us all how it’s done. You are a credit to right wing blog posters everywhere. Keep on keepin’ on.

  5. Duros62 says:

Don’t feel bad, Oliver. You are a nerd. :)

  6. Duros62 says:

ed, slow down, man. Your’e gonna pull a muscle or something.

  7. Oliver says:

Except that on the issue of global warming, the debate is over. There are a lot of other things that you could say conservatives have a point, but not global warming.

  8. pedromd07 says:

“Except that on the issue of global warming, the debate is over”

So says the grand and wise Oliver, the high school graduate with no science backround working as a paid propagandist for the guys who are making a mint off of “global warming”

Oliver, how much of global warming is directly related to human activity?

  9. Oliver, I actually think this is a good idea that you should steal. You should try doing this to Michelle Malkin sometime. She’s funny even with the sound off — the actual material would write itself.

  10. ed says:

Awesome point Scientist Pedro. Why would non-scientist Oliver simply rely on (obviously liberal) third party scientists for his information on Global Warming and/or Climate Change? It would be far easier to turn to the enlightened commments from thoughtful Right Wing scientists such as yourself. Very good.

And excellent job with the question of (exactly) what percent of so-called Global Warming is directly related to human activity. As I pointed out on another thread, it’s like if you got your arm pulled off whle camping. If another human did it (or a statistically significant percentage of it), it can be cured. If a mountain lion did it, not so much. Great job!

As our Dear Leader made perfectly with so-called “evolution,” the jury is out with regards to Global Warming. Thanks to highly trained scientists like Pedro, the world will get out.

  11. Oliver says:

I and scientist am sure of this: man is contributing to global warming. Republicans will not admit to this, even if its 1%.

  12. Duros62 says:

Oliver, how much of global warming is directly related to human activity?

    37.527869696865%
    Ok? happy now?

How much of it is directly related to you not shutting the fuck up?

    More than 1% I’d say.

  13. Duros62 says:

for the guys who are making a mint off of “global warming”

Oh, and um, you’re gonna have to back that up. Somehow.

  14. They mock because it is one of the things that they most fear, but remember they fear most things. I think this is why they can’t be funny–just too hard to be funny when your a fearful WATB.

  15. JMN says:

F-em. I like you and I am cool.

  16. pedromd07 says:

I’m a republican, and actually a scientist. I don’t ever have to “admit” facts, they are proven entities. As far as you lefty flat-earthers are concerned, no one has shown me one shred of evidence (i.e. scientifically and statistically valid study) that demonstrates how much of a role mankind plays in global warming. If we are only responsible for 1% of it, then you guys are the ultimate “chicken little’s” all for something that we would can have no measureable effect on.

Duros, $43 million is a mint in my book and only the most obvious example, Ollie’s too, since he thinks you can live like King Farouk on 100K a year.
    http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=inconvenienttruth.htm
I didn’t even delve into the millions in research grants…

And Ed! Dude you are soo cool.! Hey bud, LOVE your arm pulling analogy…awesome!!! You should check out a dictionary man, and look up “non-sequitor”! Let me know if you have any problem with the big words…m’kay? Rock on big Ed!!!!

  17. anuj says:

    Pedro,
your a scientist in the way george bush is a good president…

  18. ed says:

    Thanks Pedro, backatcha.

And pay attention, lefty pseudo-scientists: Pedro announced that he is a Real Scientist on a blog comment. It really doesn’t get any more credible than that.

Thanks, Pedromalamadingdong for exposing the non-scientists. As a True Scientist, your mug belongs on a Scientist Mount Rushmore alongside people such as James Dobson, Pat Robertson, and Dr./Sen. Bill Frist, who exposed the liberal doctors as frauds for suggesting that Terri Schiavo was in a persistant vegegtative state. Well done, True Scientist Pedro. Well done indeed.

Can We enlist you to debunk “Evil-lution.” That would be awesome. And thanks for sticking around stateside to fight Scien-fascists instead of going to Iraq to fight the people who attacked us on 9-11. You’re a profile in courage; your expertise is much needed on blog comments.

  19. pedromd07 says:

damn ed I like you! Hard to find someone with such a refined sense of sarcasm….

Your out-front racism is refreshing, usually the lefties hide behind some sort of beaurcratic terminology like “Affirmative action”..but not Ed! Throws down the “Pedromalamadingdong ” bigotry against our pacific islander brothers right out there for all to see!

As far as the T. Schiavo thing…get back to that dictionary under “Non-sequitor” right quick now!

I’m an agnostic and LOVE evolution…no prob there, and 10 years USN, including forward deployed during Afghanistan and Iraq! Check that block Ed!

love ya babe! You the man!

  20. Southern Quaker says:

Hey Ped, I’ll see your “I’m actually a scientist” and raise you one “I have a PhD in physics.”

I am not paid in any way, shape, or form to work on global warming*, but I have seen the scientific evidence (journals, don’tcha know), and I am thoroughly convinced by my learned colleagues that (a) global warming is a looming problem and (b), is in fact, affected by human industry.

*I might add that they only folks out there handing out cash as far as I can tell are Exxon-Mobil & its cronies. Man, I wish the damned thing were a fake so I could get my hands on some of that $10k!

  21. Southern Quaker says:

Hey Pedro–you’re a scientist! Why don’t you go earn a bit of pocket money by proving the geophysics community wrong!

yeah, you get right on that…

  22. Nimrod Gently says:

“Pedromalamadingdong” is not racism, it’s just mockery.

“FUCK ALL REPULSIVE PACIFIC ISLANDERS AND FUCK THEIR HIDEOUS MOTHERS” is racism.

    The More You Know™

  23. pedromd07 says:

alright you got me there Nimrod…your sarcasm is improving as well…much more of the dry brit wit I had hoped to get from you. Hope Ollie doesn’t ban you for a month for it though.

Great Quaker…maybe you can drop me a nice reference explaining what percent of the global warming is due to mankind, so I can determine whether or not ANY changes we make will have any effect on the system? It is really a simple question. Hell I completely agree that we 1. have global warming and 2. that man has SOMETHING to do with it. Further, I am calling for an immediate quadrupling of the nuclear power plants in this country. Whose with me!

  24. ed says:

“Pedromalamadingdong” is not racism, it’s just mockery.

Actually it’s just a nickname. Dear Leader likes to hang nicknames on people, I figured pedromd07 (if that is his real name) would dig it too. Kind of liike I hung Dugg-miester on Dugger. That could have been sexist, I guess, since I don’t know if Dugger’s a dude or a dame (it you’re a sensitive New Age guy/gal Dugger, my sincere apologies). How would I know pedromd07’s ethnicity (if that is his/her real ethnicity)? I’m not psychotic! And besides, how could I be racist? I’m a Right Wing Scientist, not some homosexual-loving liberal. QED.

Also, I heard that sometimes people on blog comments don’t always say things about themselves that are entirely true. Or maybe that was just a rumor.

What I cannot understand is why pedromd07 is pro-evolution. Doesn’t make sense. It’s only a theory, supported virtually entirely by liberal pseudo-scientists, much like “Global Warming.”

    Keep on keepin’ on!

  25. pedromd07 says:

See ed if you were REALLY a scientist, you would understand the difference between a theory and scientific fact.

Evolution has literally thousands of examples. It has been proven over and over again.

Global warming has modeled some things, taken a tiny picture (in geologic terms) and then decided that it is all the fault of those evil humans! Of course, the uneducated have been doing this for quite a while (earth is the center of the universe comes to mind), so it isn’t a suprise.

But hey, if it was good enough for the Dark Ages, it is good enough for today’s america hating liberals, eh?

    Party on Ed!

  26. Nimrod Gently says:

Pedro, if you were really a scientist, you wouldn’t talk such complete and utter bollocks.

  27. pseudoscientist says:

I am impressed with you Pedro. Can you link us to your published papers and research?

  28. pedromd07 says:

yes I could, a quick medline search would get you my articles. The book chapters are a little harder to find.

Simply go to…..wait a minute! Do I really want to pestered by militant, jobless lefties where I work?

    No, I don’t think so…thanks anyway!

  29. michael says:

Pedro prints out transcripts of these flamewars and considers them “published papers”.

  30. Southern Quaker says:

If you are going to call yourself a sceintist, Pedro, at least get the terminology right.

Evolution is not a fact, it is a scientific theory.

    Attend:
A “fact” is that the acceleration due to gravity near the surface of the Earth is 9.8 m/s^2. A “law” is that the force of gravity between two objects is proportional to their mass and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them (Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation). Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity posits that gravity is in fact the distortion of space-time by mass. It includes lots’n'lots of math and has many predictions which have subsequently born out. But it is still a theory, not a law, because it is not a simple relationship between two variables.

    thus endeth the science lesson

Global Warming, as colloquially understood, is a phenomenon not a theory. The underlying physical principles of global warming are well understood in terms of the laws of thermodynamics. However a “theory” of global warming would have to be a universally applicable set of principles and rules that would model all global warming phenomena on any planet.

Does that mean that the recently issued report is bunk? Of course not. There is plenty of observational evidence (ice core data) and computer modeling (based on scores of underlying physical, chemical, and geological principles) that tell us we are going to be in a world of hurt. Published, peer reviewed articles that reflect the major scientific consensus.

And yes, scientific consensus IS part of the scientific method. There are degreed physicists out there who disagree with the theory of gravity. But the CONSENSUS, based on decades of observation, is that Einstein and Newton basically got it right. IF a suficient amount of evidence becomes available that the present theory is inadequate then the scientific CONSENSUS will CHANGE.

    sheesh

sorry about the long post, but this stuff just bugs the hell out of me.

  31. Southern Quaker says:

And Pedro, published articles in medical journals do not make you an authority on physical science. You’ve had, what, a year of college physics? Do you even read the major science journals?

If the medical community reaches a consensus, for example, that the MMR vaccine does NOT cause autism, are you going to dismiss it out of hand, just because there are a few fringe dissenters? Or are you going to trust the professional integrity of your colleagues? Can you at least try to extend the same professional courtesy to your colleagues in geophysics and chemistry, and assume that they are the experts in their field, not you?

  32. JWG says:

    Evolution is not a fact

“Evolution” is a fact. It is considered scientific fact that we share common ancestors with other species. How that occurs is the evolutionary theory.

Likewise, global warming is a fact since the average global temperatures have increased over time. The explanation as to how that occurs is the theory.

    thus endeth the science lesson

Nice video work on the part of the Wingnut F-Minus Troop. It appears they earned their editing chops while taking their home courses in gun repair.

  34. frameone says:

“Simply go to…..wait a minute! Do I really want to pestered by militant, jobless lefties where I work?”

    ROFL

  35. pedromd07 says:

    again quaker, slowly this time.

I agree there is global warming. I will even concede that some of it is caused by humans.

I want to know HOW much is caused by humans. If it is 1%, then spending billions getting wrapped around the axle is an abject waste of time and money. If it is 50%, then I will also agree that we need to do something about it.

Until we get that answer, especially since we know that there have been warming/cooling cycles in the past, I don’t think we should bring western civilization to a halt for it.

  36. Duros62 says:

So, 50% is your cutoff, Pedro? Any less than that and we shouldn’t sweat it (HA! haha!1, sorry), right?

  37. Duros62 says:

I don’t think anyone, and I mean anyone, has called for halting western civilization, have they? Not even Ralph Nader is ready to go that far.
I mean, let’s face it, carbon emissions is not gonna end anytime soon (unless Bush/Cheney are serious about Iran, etc. But I digress.)

  38. frameone says:

“I don’t think we should bring western civilization to a halt for it.”

Wow. Just wow. How paranoid are you losers?

  39. Diamond LeGrande says:

I do find it funny a blog called “Hog on Ice” would scream “Fatso!”

And, as for “Pedromalamadingdong,” I have a German last name that has inspired a few barbs, and I don’t go off on the taunter for anti-German bigotry. Of course, it actually works when we’re talking about someone like Michelle Magalang Malkin, whose name includes “Magalang,” rather than a simple “Pedro,” but I digress.

  40. pedromd07 says:

a simple question remains unanswered after so many comments…..A simple answer that is absolutely crucial to the question of what we are going to do about.

Yup, typical lefty windbags, lots of bluster, no data…

  41. Nimrod Gently says:

A simple question that only you think is important enough to be a deal-breaker.

  42. Dugger says:

Game, set, match Pedro. The question, despite the ‘fact’ that the science is ’settled’, was seripously answered by no one. In the 70’s we just HAD to go to the icecaps and spread soot over them to prevent global cooling. Newsweek and Time told us so.

“Here’s how The Economist characterized the seven-year life-cycle of environmental catastrophes: Year 1 a scientist discovers some potential threat. Year 2 journalists oversimplify and exaggerate it. Year 3 environmentalists chime in and polarize the issue (”Either you agree that the world is about to come to an end and are fired by righteous indignation, or you are a paid lackey of big business”). Year 4 brings the international conferences and bureaucrats well-supplied with club-class tickets and limelight. Year 5 is the year nations pick one country as villain and gang up on it. Year 6 is when skeptical scientists say the scare is exaggerated, driving the Greens into paroxysms of pious rage (”How dare you give space to fringe views? cry these once-fringe people to newspaper editors.”) Year 7 is the year of the quiet climbdown. Without fanfare, the official consensus estimate of the size of the problem shrinks to nothingness. “

  43. S says:

    Dugger | Feb 9, 2007 8:08:57 AM
“… the size of the problem shrinks to nothingness.”

    Like Iraq’s WMD?

If pedugger doesn’t believe in it, it doesn’t exist?

  44. pedromd07 says:

Nice summary Dugger,I expect to see this thread die a quiet death now.

My guess is that we have trod upon the magical religion of climate change for most of Oliver’s denizens, and it now become quite uncomfortable for them. They realize that the question of whether or not mankind can actually effect change is in fact paramount.

Yes Beatrice, the emperor has no clothes…

  45. Dugger says:

“New NASA satellite temperature data reveals that the Southern Hemisphere has not warmed in the past 25 years, contrary to ‘global warming theory’ and modeling,” Morano said. “This new data may require a name change from ‘global warming’ to ‘Northern Hemisphere warming.’”

Im demand this man be put in jail!!! Doesn’t he know the science is settled?! NASA too. Put all of NASA in jail. How dare they come up with data that casts doubt on manmade GLOBAL warming.
