Art Monk Gets Screwed Again
Tweet
As a football fan, I must say this: the football hall of fame is a sham until Art Monk is enshrined there.

Irving before Monk represents all that is wrong with the world.
Hey, lay off Irvin. The guy knows how to party.
It’s pretty hard to get into the football Hall, but not having Monk in there is indeed unjust.
Art Monk?
Is that Thelonius’ brother the painter?
Irvin’s numbers are better. Sorry O-Dub.
Monk should get in, tho. His case is better than Swann or Stallworth.
He’s gonna have problems with Cris Carter and Tim Brown coming up the next few years, and then The Greatest Football Player I’ve Ever Seen (Mr. Rice).
I didn’t say Michael Irvin shouldn’t go in. The guy was and is a lout, but he was a hell of a wide receiver (trust me, nobody hated the Dallas teams of the ’90s more than me but I also will admit when the players are damn good like Aikman, Irvin, and Smith). But that doesn’t change the fact that Art Monk deserves to go in the Hall, and should have gone in long ago.
I will say I would rank Monk higher than Brown and Carter, though not Rice who’s clearly the greatest WR in NFL history.
Hey, at least they put Roger Wehrli in, which should have been done a decade ago.
Monk’s time will come.
Aft Mont has been shafted! There is NO justice for the brother, although I must say that when he played in the NFL, IMHO, he didn’t get adequate appreciation. Just sayin’.
I’ll agree that Irvin is a lout but that can’t be an issue for this. The Hall already has its share of them (Mr. Simpson, line one) and there are probably a few that were in their day but we never heard about it because the relationship between the press and the athletes 30-40-50 years ago was way different than it is now.
I’ll agree that it’s ridiculous that Monk isn’t in. Geeze Louise, he was part of the all-decade team. Everyone else at his position is either in or going (Rice, Largent, James Lofton).
Art Monk is all class, and you’re right, there’s no point in the Hall of Fame if players like Monk aren’t in it.
