Superbowl XLI

Congrats to the Colts on their win, frankly if you look at the disparity between the numbers you would think the score would be even higher for the Colts (and I once again prove that I have no business making sports predictions). Dungy and Manning sure go into legend territory here.

The ads were crap, again. Just no magic since the mid-’90s. Bring back the Bud Bowl, I say. (the only one I thought was memorable was David Letterman cuddling up with Oprah)

Will the Colts return for XLII… against the Redskins? ONLY SEVEN MONTHS TO GO UNTIL KICKOFF!

ALSO: Isn’t it kind of silly that the league insists in having the Superbowl in spots like South Florida because of the weather and then it just rains all game long (and it had an effect with all those turnovers). There’s no reason that if a team has modern facilities it shouldn’t be in the running to host the game (Fedex Field, for instance). If it’s cold? Suck it up, it’s football.

With one super bowl victory? What does that make brady? A super duper legend? Talk about hyperbole.

“If it’s cold? Suck it up, it’s football.”

And if it rains? Suck it up. Your ok with one weather extreme but not another? That makes no sense.

I’m not sure where FedEx Field is. Memphis?

Here I went to bed thinking “that’s it then, Bears have won”

Hey, I supported the winner for once!

I think this game came down to the coaches. Well, their names at least. All else equal, who do you want to direct your squad, the guy named Tony or Lovie? One sounds like a head coach. The other sounds like an Old Money Wife. It’s about as easy as picking between Gus and Heath.

Congrats to Indy… Tony Dungy and his krewe definitely earned it.

But did you miss the one with the rabbit and the woodchuck with the mouse? Dude, now that was funny.

This may make the purists scream heresy, but a game of this magnitude should only be played in a domed stadium. If the NFL was truly interested in determining the best team they would remove as many of the X factors, including weather, that might affect the outcome.

Sure they all play on the same field under the same conditions, but yesterday’s rain didn’t make for optimum athleticism or visual enjoyment.

Not only were the commercials not funny for the most part, many of them made me say “huh” after the aired. As in what did that have to do with what it being sold.

  7. Regular season and division championship games can and have been affected by the weather (most memorably the Raiders-Patriots game of 2002). Football isn’t about having pristine conditions in a hermetically sealed lab. It’s bringing your “A” game and dealing with it.

Right on Oliver. No Domes, No Warm weather stadiums. Play the Damn game and let both teams deal with the weather. Of course as a Bears fan I am a bit biased. But hey if you watch NFL films most of the most memorable games were played in places like Green Bay, New York Buffaloe. Let the boys down south suck it up and play in the cold and make the Northerners suck it up and play in the heat and if all else fails make them play in a Dome if the Best Team plays there. The Best team will win if they are the best team. And by the way, I do respect Indy and their team on a well played game.

I guess, but that Letterman-Oprah bit was Comedy Gold. Gold I tells ya.

The major reason that the NFL chooses warm weather locales for the Superbowl is not for the players’ benefit. It’s for the assorted CEOs and other corporate entertainment patrons who don’t want to sit on a bench outside in Green Bay in February lest they freeze their lazy asses.
