Molly Ivins Has Died
Tweet
For a long time, before the blogs and such, she was one of the few liberal voices outside of the DC establishment who occasionally cracked through to the mainstream press.
Best-selling author and columnist Molly Ivins, the sharp-witted liberal who skewered the political establishment and referred to President Bush as “Shrub,” died Wednesday after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 62.

She was the smartest and funniest columnist since Mike Royko. Just the best and I will miss her greatly.
RIP Molly.
(You too Mike.)
Indeed, OW and Jerry; Molly Ivins will be missed. I couldn’t help myself; I offered a brief silent prayer on her behalf, and on our behalf for having lost her. Of course, bastard that I am, I also called down the most vile curses of hell upon those cowards and scum who have already begun to spit upon Molly’s grave.
That’s too bad. I actually had a very cordial email exchange with her in 2000 when Bush was running. I had written her about a column she wrote and I was surprised when she replied. A nice lady and a good writer with a sharp wit. RIP Molly.
