“Floyd Lipscomb, who police said is homeless, tried to pull Slaughter out of the channel. But he did not have the strength to pull Slaughter and his heavy wool coat out of the water, Slaughter said last night from his room at George Washington University Hospital.

So Lipscomb held on tight to Slaughter’s arm and told him: ” ‘You’re not going to die tonight. I’m going to hold on to you. I got you,’ ” Slaughter said.

He never went in the water, he held him from the side of the river or dock…which was the exactly right thing to do. but his life was not at risk holding onto the guy….at least by my read. Again, this doesn’t lessen the act one iota, simply puts it in a different class.

I take exception to that, sir. There are winners and there are losers in life. I am not one of those libruls who think there shouldn’t be a score in a little league game. Mr. Autrey did a brave, heroic and noble thing. No question about it. He risked his own life to save someone else. Show me how Mr. Lipscomb didn’t do the same before he got assistance. How much time do you spend in 34 degree water?

Duros is part of that leftist wing that wants to dumb everything down to equality, to prevent ANYONE from being exemplary.

My theory is, this is an idea usually espoused by the underachievers to make themselves look better…

See, I have this theory that the more specialized a doctor is is in direct correlation with how much of a dick that doctor is, surgeons topping the list.

I don’t know why liberals feel that EVERYTHING must be equal. One of these two acts is truly heroic, one was not.
