A Double Dip Smear

It is weakened and in somewhat disarray, but the Republican smear machine – led of course by Fox News – is still able to push a vile smear against Barack Obama, while blaming Hillary Clinton for it with absolutely no evidence.

I guess this is their way of reminding us that they’re not dead yet.

blaming Hillary Clinton for it with absolutely no evidence

That’s not quite the same as saying the Clinton camp is not responsible, or that they have issued a denial, now is it?

I learned how speak Clintonesque a while back: “You have no evidence” == If you can’t prove it, go away.

  2. Actually the Clinton camp has issued a denial. Wrong, yet again.

Clinton’s aides blasted the story as an attempt to tar both her and Obama. “We have no connection to this story,” said spokesman Howard Wolfson, noting the magazine is owned by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon-founded Unification Church.

“It is an obvious right-wing hit job by a Moonie publication and an attack on both Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama.”

  3. Rounds77 says:

Frank, “if you can’t prove it go away” has more logic than the Bush/Republican speak we’ve all gotten used to, i.e. “you can prove it all you want, but we don’t have to believe it.”

Just so we’re clear on what is being said:

Is Media Matters and/or Oliver Willis claiming that Obama did not attend a madrassa in Indonesia?

  5. Yes, JWG, Sen. Obama clearly declares he’s a sleeper agent here:

In Indonesia, I’d spent 2 years at a Muslim school, 2 years at a Catholic school. In the Muslim school, the teacher wrote to tell mother I made faces during Koranic studies. In the Catholic school, when it came time to pray, I’d pretend to close my eyes, then peek around the room. Nothing happened. No angels descended.

  6. fd10801 says:

No, Oliver, not wrong, The Billary campaign was, as usual, slow with the denial.

They had to set up the smear of the Unification Church and VRWC accusation.

It would have been a lot quicker to say, “It wasn’t us,” but then you don’t get that classic threefer: “It wasn’t me, it was them, and they’re no good” Clinton trick shot.

I’m already tired of the ‘08 campaign.

It’s exactly the same as MSU–Making S(tuff) Up!

As far as Obama attending a “madrassa”? He was eight years old! How much part did you play in choosing your school when you were eight?

  8. pedromd07 says:

    yea we believe…

“It is a right wing conspiracy after my husband”..he never really had an affair with a 22 year old intern….it is all a smear I tell ya….

Uh huh…blame a right wing conspiracy without evidence, oliver sucks that right down…..

  9. JWG says:

I only remember that I had to walk 3 miles uphill in the snow to get there…both ways.

According to “recovering Catholics” they were traumatized for life by their youthful Catholic school experience.

The issue here is not whether or not he chose to go there; it’s what he learned, and more importantly, how much he remembered.

If the implication is that he was tainted by the experience, when perhaps he wasn’t, that has now become his problem to solve. It is not required of us to overlook the possibility.

I, for one, will not be voting for him:

    1) Too young
    2) too inexperienced
    3) Too liberal

Is he a Wahabbi trained Islamic extremist?
    Objection!
    I withdraw the question.

  11. Bengt Larsson says:

I suppose if conservatives like fd10801 show so much hatred of Hillary and Obama, they must feel really threatened by them. I wonder why that might be. One is a woman and the other is a black man.

  12. fd10801 says:

    Ah, yes!

    disapproval = threat = hatred = bigotry

Who says liberals don’t have common sense?

    Heh.

  13. Eric the Political Hack says:

Maybe Fox is a covert Democratic machine, attempting to thrust John Edwards–the most electable and perhaps most charismatic of the potential nominees forward in order to hit the weakend Republican party even harder.

    Just sayin.

  14. fd10801 says:

And maybe the Mafia had Lincoln shot…

  15. Eric the Political Hack says:

It was a joke, my friend.

Wow. Two years listening to people drone on about one god and old testament prophets and Jesus. Then he spent two years at Catholic school.
    What’s the problem?
Mahatma Ghandi grew up going to a temple that read from the Bhagavad Gita and the Koran.

when he was asked whether he was a Hindu, he replied:

Yes I am. I am also a Christian, a Muslim, a Buddhist and a Jew.

  18. fd10801 says:

Does that mean we can expect Barack to be walking around in a diaper soon?

  19. fd10801 says:

    Barack has other problems.
