It is the union leadership I detest as this whole Wake Up Walmart is not about serving the interests of the employees of Wal-Mart, but rather serving the interests of the union leadership. They see a big pot of gold on the other side of that Wal-Mart rainbow and they want in.

I don’t see the same campaigns against stores like Target and Publix, a retailer and grocer that offer lower pay and less benefits than Wal-Mart. Of course, their profit margins aren’t as high as Wal-Mart. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Wal-Mart provides healthcare for their employees, and for a retailer, they pay about the average for that kind of work. Unless you think working at a cash register or stocking a shelf merits a salary of $60,000 a year or something.

And yet, conservatives support decreased emission standards (which results in market failure), and expect to be able to privatize public goods.

And the derision is deserved. It pretends to be some kind of consumer advocacy group, but it’s nothing but a union front group.

It isn’t a campaign to destroy Walmart, but to make the largest retailer act like a responsible member of the business community.

The conservative elites who don’t understand real capitalism

Actually, conservatives have a much better understanding of capitalism than liberals. You link back to your post about the minimum wage which is absurd because Wal-Mart pays above the minimum wage in fact, pays higher in most areas than the proposed increase in the minimum wage.

The efforts of groups Wake Up Walmart and liberal politicians (that are in the back pocket of the unions) is about nothing but money and control. The law in Maryland that would have forced Wal-Mart to pay a fixed percentage of payroll on employee insurance was written by the unions. The attempt by the Chicago City Council to force Wal-Mart to increase pay was also written by the unions.

Stop pretending that this is part of some honorable moral crusade. It’s a power grab.
