Lantern Out
Tweet
I actually saw him in person at a comic convention and had a comic signed.
The creator of the comic book superhero Green Lantern has died.
Martin Nodell, who invented the character that used his magical ring to fight crime, died Saturday in Wisconsin at the age of 91.
In brightest day, in darkest night
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil’s might
Beware my power, Green Lantern’s light!

He had a good run. I didn’t think that the original GL’s creator was even still around.
Technically he created the Alan Scott Lantern (he actually outlived Hal Jordan’s creator), so his epitaph should be:
“…and I shall shed my light over dark evil.
For the dark things cannot stand the light,
The light of the Green Lantern!”
I use cartoon character stamps to mail bills, cards and letters. Superheros including Green Lantern are among my favorites. I also use Childrens Animal House cartoons to typify whatever it is I am mailing.
Why do I get the impression, Oliver, that you, like me, are basically a Hal Jordan fan?
(That version of the Green Lantern oath is the one Alfred Bester wrote.)
